Pendleton retro offerings

I saw these two on the Pendleton site:

They've apparently revived an old design of theirs for a wool Ike jacket:

A little pricey, but it looks pretty nice.

Also, a belt-back, Merino wool tweed hunting-style jacket with bellows pockets and elbow patches. Looks pretty good, over all:

Haven't seen either in person, but I do like Pendleton wool.

I liked them a whole lot more when they were made in the USA.

The mills are in the US - is the garment manufacturing done elsewhere? I didn't realize, that's disappointing....

But that looks not much like as a "Ike" jacket - instead, it looks like a cloth version of an A-2 Air Force leather jacket. I find it quite absurd they sell it as some variant of an "Ike" jacket.

Agreed. For the price they are asking it should be expected.

Have we established that this stuff is NOT made in the US? Or is this just supposition? EDIT - oops, I see it does say 'Imported of our own USA fabric'. Geez, that's annoying.

Regardless of which jacket the 'Ike' is actually emulating, I think it's a nice looking jacket. Although I'll grant that it does seem overly pricey.

I've had one of these for a year and man do I love it. Great quality from them as usual.

Hey Bart - how many buttons are there on the front? I can't tell from the catalog photo. I understand the complaints about not being assembled in the US, although the fabric is woven here, so that's something. I notice no one seems to complain about their Akubra being made overseas ;)

It's a three button, There's one hiding in the picture. It looks sharp in the picture but I like that third button done up most often when I wear mine. Makes for a nice look, I think. I like that they still do the weaving here, an to be honest I have no complaints about the quality of any of my Pendleton stuff. Mexicans gotta eat too.

One of my professors exclusively wears Pendleton board shirts in the fall and winter and guayabera shirts in the spring and summer. He swears that since Pendleton switched production site that the quality has noticeably fallen off (i.e. noticeable elbow wear after a just a few month).

Just goes to show that "Buy American" doesn't necessarily mean "Manufacture American."

Update, coats on sale

I was buying a sweater and noticed that these two coats I posted about are currently on sale. The Merino tweed belt-back is available in XL, and the Ike jacket is available in all sizes, at reasonable prices.
