I hope some places continue to have pay phones available.

I have my own story to tell, why Payphones are still worth keeping around.
One day on my way to work I locked my self out of the apartment. I soon learned I was unable to contact a lock smith since I also locked my mobile phone in the apartment, too. Then I remembered there was a payphone at the convenience store/laundromat , nope all three of the pay phones had out of order signs on them. Thankfully a guy waithing in line lent me his mobile phone. Got in contact with the lock smith operator the lady said she will need a call back number I kept thinking why? does she need a call back number. Her reason was she needed a call back number to make sure I would be at my apartment and to notifi me what time to expect the lock smith to arrive. She really did not want to help me out unless I had a call back number. I told the lady I did not mind waiting around for the lock smith no matter the time but I do not have a phone with me.The lady askes me to call he back in five minutes so she can find someone on duty to make the trip out. I told the lady on the phone I am not sure I can call her back in 5 minutes but I will try, I thanked the lady and set off looking for a working payphone low and behold there was another laundromat close by which had a working payphone. I got in contact with the lock smith operator and was told a lock smith was headed my way.
It was strange that the lock smith operator would not help me unless I could call her back or was at a reachable number. I am truly greatful everything worked out in the end and I am back in my apartment.
