A short story!

I didn't buy this hat from Panamabob.

Robert,
Has spent hours teaching me about this Art form. He has sent me books, links to read. I have invested several thousands of hours in learning about Montecristi Panama hats and I haven't even scratched the surface.I have a passion for these hats.

I posted this on another thread. How can you ever say Thank You enough? A word many don't ever use it this taker society!!

Robert,
My hatter said this hat is in the top 10 of all the Montecristi hats he has ever seen in his life. Its 75 years old and he thinks it should be sold to a Museum or a Collector.. These old fine hand made hats are really works of "Art".

I'm going to ask Zohar to help me find a Museum or a private collector for it so others can see this most beautiful treasure.

I want to say in public Thank you so much with helping me get this fine old Montecristi without you teaching me what to look for in a Montecristi I would have just passed on it.

My lady has one thats 85 years old but of course not of this Quality. She still loves it. She says maybe some movie star of that day wore it a time or two.Maybe it was in a silent movie?

Panamabob, books and about a million Questions has taught me so much about these hats that I have a love and a passion for them.

Sharpie, there's a guy on COW that runs a museum (not sure what kind of museum...paintings, statues, or old stuff). He goes by Curator Rick. There's someone here too that posted old clothes in his museum a while back. Just can't remember the name of the thread. They might be able to help you to some degree.

Sharpetoys, can you or Bob recommend some books on Panama hats? I've read "The Panama Hat Trail" and the big coffee table book on Panamas. Are there others?

Regards, Kaleponi Craig

Help is on the way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those are the only two books I know that deal exclusively with Ecuador. The "Trail" book is mostly about Cuencanos.

There are other hat books that mention Montecristis, but they are generally only talked about in a few paragraphs.
