Panama Hat Thread

Here is the style I would like to find. I know some of the custom hat makers could and probably do make this but I don't have hundred of dollars to spend on one. Most of the commercial style brands don't have the narrow pinch I thinks sets the View attachment 119992 View attachment 119993 View attachment 119993 View attachment 119994 se vintage hat apart.
This is a Adam Barbosa

If it’s just the tight pinch you want, most real Panama hats can be reshaped and/or reblocked. Some steam and some patience should get you there. I’d advise to be careful though as a really sharp pinch can break the fibers and leave the hat with a tear(s). Some time on eBay might pay dividends. Good luck.

Hello
I would like that style and shape of the hat. I would like to get one with the pinch already in it. I see the Brent Black hat sare the closest but definitely can not afford the prices he is asking. They may be nice but for a general wear, it is too much.

Hello Panama lovers!

It's my very first post here.
Does anyone have any experience with www.panamahutdirekt.de?
Thier hats look like value for money, I contacted them and was told they sold Montecristi hats only, no Cuenca hats at all.
I'm thinking about ordering something from them although any opinion / experience would be highly appreciated.
Just to make it clear, they are totally different company from panamahatsdirect.com.

Thanks,

Hatyulo

Alan, what do you think of the leather protector glued to the inside of the crown of my panama, some posts above? Is it necessary? Does it work? Is it a good idea? Have you seen it before?

I have hats with a similar cloth protector. It just works to keep from creating a pinch tight enough to crack.

Anyone? At least some opinion please!
They also sell on Ebay where their prices are about the same as on their website. Free worldwide shipping from Ecuador.
Their cheapest "subfino" hats cost €100.

I’m new here, but as for my opinion, I’ll have to go with: shill.

Your posts read like ads. Just my 2 cents.

Would like to see pics of the sweatband, labels, and inside. Who is the maker?

I had some trouble dealing with the size restriction for files with some of the photos I took, but I think I got it reduced now. Here you go. Maker is Homero Ortega. Sweatband is elastic, not leather.

Edit: just added a couple more pics.

That's funny, I'm not related to that company at all. I just wanted to hear some opinions but as I see no one has any.

Your post is the first I’ve heard of them. I’m no longer a fan of buying Panama hats from other than established domestic makers. The variables, styling, sizing, shape, sweats, etc. from offshore companies have left me burned too often. I’d rather pay more for a hat made my a maker of known reputation and know I’m getting a quality hat.
