Got my new jacket today.

Sleeves are lined with green garbadine.
Pockets are lined in cord, and they are shortened so its easy to reach cellphone and ipod.

I had no idea. Amanda was a little sneaky about this.
I have heard nothing at all from aero since I sent the last jacket back,
and today out of the blue UPS came to my door with a packet.
I thought it was the old jacket coming back and was not really happy,
but looking at the labels and reading "repair return" i felt my heart
beating faster and I started to shake as I was opening the box.

I thought "im not ready for this, I need a week or so to get ready"
but there was no return, horshide smell filled the air and sweaty
palms trembled to get the jacket on me to check everything.

It took me some hours to understand it all, but it seems to fit.

They fixed the length of the jacket, I added 2.5" in the back
and 3" in the front, it looks superb.
They added length on the collar and its perfect.
The pockets are shallow and doesnt go all the way down
to the end of the jacket and that is very welcome.

The immediate fit feeling of this jacket is a litle bit looser then the
steerhide, and the immediate thought was that the old one
was a better fit (except for the length) but wearing it some
makes me think this is better after all. The old one was
very tight and this one is more trim.

The feeling of horsehide versus heavy steerhide is night and day.
This jacket is supptle and easy to wear. I like both and the
steerhide was really indestructible but as a jacket to grab
whenever, this is really the only choice - for me.

The armlength is perfect.
If you look at the first and second picture from the front you can see
the zippers open versus closed.
When closed they are tight and nice to the wrist.

I will get better outdoor pictures later.

Congratulations, Griff! Superb jacket and fit. Great idea to shorten the depth of the pockets -- good for cellphones, ipods, and derringers.

You might find yourself grabbing the Highwayman more than any other jacket you own. It's easy to wear because of the short length and room in the shoulders. That is why I own two of them.

Great looking jacket. I'm a big fan of the zip sleeves. Could you go over the modifications you made (or if you done so already, link to the thread)? The one obvious change is the angled seam on the front chest.

The jacket is actually a standard ready to order version of the Highwayman.
Its called "Zip sleeve Highwayman" and is located in the motorcyclejacket section:
http://www.aeroleatherclothing.com/...roViewPage?page=displaysubcatlist&subcatid=33

I chose the style mainly because I like the look of the front yoke and I seldom use chest pockets.
I also love to have the control over the arm opening and it looks sleek when closed.
I do like the looks of the normal cuffs apart from that they are a little too big.
I did ask if it was possible to still get the cuffs on a zipsleeve but it wasnt recommended.

Order looked like this:
+ Zip sleeve Higwayman in dark brown smooth FQHH
+ Brown cotton drill lining with olive drab garbadine in sleeves.
+ 1 left and 1 right vertical pocket in the facing lined with cord.
10" pocket depth max.
+ Tapered. Should fit trim without using straps. Straping it should make it tight.
+ No storm cuffs
+ Roll over stitching
+ +1cm on collar (just slightly bigger, due to the size 38 making the collar very small)

I dont think its tapered, but my body shape isnt really tapered either
so its not alot for them to work with. They nailed the waist very nice tho
and its trim with straps all the way out and tight when straping some.

Actually, its not the brown cotton drill in this one. Maybe they are out of it.
I had that in the steerhide version I sent back and this lining is
lighter and softer. I think I have the same lining in my pocket in the Cheyenne.
It doesnt look as durable as the drill but it is supersmooth and very nice.

Thanks to Jansolo for the tip about the garbadine being better for the arms.
I dont really like the color and thats why I went with the brown mostly.

Im looking forward to seeing it.

Another thing I feel I need to note is that I always thought that the
handwarmer pockets had zippers by default.
I never said anythig about theese pockets and they arrived like
true handwarmer pockets without any zippers on both this one
and the heavy steerhide one I sent back.

I dont really care alot about it because I never use them but
it might be good to know so if you want one or the other
you migh need to specify it.

Great looking jacket, Griff.

PS you need to include more Guitar Hero type photos. ;)

I think I had the same issue as you on my Highwayman. I have a large drop (10"), which is at odds with the standard Highwayman cut. As you know, the Highwayman is a boxy fit jacket so it's not part of the normal course of action to have a taper.

Aero ended up cutting in a moderate taper but making the jacket fit at my waist by cinching in the straps. While this doesn't create an overly close fit, in retrospect I think it's the right thing to do. As age will take its toll on me, I don't think I will always have a size 32 waist. I can always let out the straps and continue to wear my Highwayman, instead of running up against a jacket whose waist is too small for me.

Yeah I think they know what they are doing.
I am confident the jacket will also form to the body and it will look less puffy.
The leather is unlike other jackets I have had, you can shape it
and reshape it. I think over time it will be shaped nicely to us.

I will see what I can do about some GH pics in the future :D

I still dont capture the exact color, but its better then the others.
Straps are not tightened at all in theese pics.

The right arm has less smooth leather, and the overall fit is a little too big.
Otherwise the jacket is perfect. It really bugs me about the arm
because the steerhide was exactly as I wanted all over.
The leather might look more alike with wear tho.
The fit is also so far only with very thin shirts because its very hot here
and its nice to be able to wear a sweater, then I can use the jacket
even when it starts to get cold. I couldnt fit a sweater in the steerhide.

I love how the jacket just hangs perfectly straight all by itself.
Its so nice with a jacket that hangs like this and you dont have to
correct the fit all the time. Just look at the zipper, I didnt think
about it, we were walking and i said "hey lets take a pic" and we
just stopped for a short moment and snapped it and kept walking.
