This seller had some of the worst photos I’ve ever seen (see below). On top of that, he didn’t list the size and he wasn’t interested in looking for the label or taking measurements. I threw out an embarrassingly low offer more as a slap in his face for not being helpful and he accepted it! Yikes!

Picked this one up on Goodwill. Made a late bid and held off another, later bid. I think it’s more like a campaign hat for the Forrest Service than a BOP? I think the rounded/pointed top is a defining point, although maybe there was crossover. I’ll have to read over those threads again!

With the size sticker, unsewn back of the sweat, and crest I think 1920s era.

Oh and the VVVV stitching. I’m a big fan.

I've been <living> in that pre 40s Stetson Western thread, talk about eye
candy! Wonder if besides a more rounded top, crown on your's is taller than a BOP? Bow treatment looks a little different too.

Here is a very nice Grand Army of the Republic hat I picked up recently. It is a real beaut. Insides are in fantastic shape with a turn of the century sweatband. Two moth holes, but both are small. It also has a circular pattern air vent punch.

Yep. I asked for the “length of the head opening inside of the leather sweatband” and was told it was just under 8 1/2 inches. The seller also accepted an offer of 1/3 his list price.

Really, if the felt is good the rest can be repaired or replaced and you should have a great hat.
