OTHER THAN eBAY Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

That’s what I thought too after looking at Brad’s guide. The liner looked like both the 1930s and the 1960 photos, but the style and the sweatband that was not sewn where it butts together had me hoping it was the 1930s. I was just afraid to get my hopes up. The store where it was sold was established in 1862 so any date is possible with that branding. Fingers crossed!

The liner I'm not sure about, but the embossment and the taped sweat cry out pre-war to me.

Never seen a hat box with a certificate of authenticity.

Though 13 boxes are referenced, the lot heading stated two (2). Ended with no bids. I couldn't afford the shipping.

For some reason this hat was speaking to me (with Pepé Le Pew's accent no less). With a $6.95 BIN and fairly priced shipping I pulled the trigger. I don't know why ... I probably shouldn't drink and shop.

Cool hat. I sometimes have gotten that drinking and buying remorse. But usually by the time the item arrives I am pleasantly surprised.

good catch though. Can’t go wrong at $6.95... worth it for the fun.

Aha! So it was you who beat me on the bidding,
Brent!:)
Actually, I'm glad, because I bid on it before deciding to only buy grails.
Here is another I bought before that. There is a seller who lives in rural France, and she buys them at the source. I had been looking for a Tirard in my size, and she found two for me and emailed me about them, so she didn't list them on Ebay.
Her name is Gail, and her seller name is faded grandeur. Excellent lady, and excellent hats.
This Tirard is a Melusine. The wrinkled ribbon is an easy fix.

Thank you, Brent!
This Tirard is older. The date is stamped on the sweatband, 7 oct 1942. The war was going on, and Tirard was still making hats.
I am excited about this one.
I wonder what age the Tirard above has. Any opinions?
