About once a year we all the get the urge to really clean the house. We used to call this spring cleaning, but it can be done anytime. There are some heavy duty cleaning jobs that take more muscle and time. This list has a few of those chores listed for those Saturdays when you just feel like cleaning.
I FEEL LIKE CLEANING--CHORES TO BE DONE

Cupboard and Drawers Outdoors
Wash or replace shelf paper
Clean downspouts

Organize drawers (one a week is good)
Clean roof gutters

Straighten cupboards
Replace faulty roof parts

Clean out medicine cabinets
Paint exterior

Clean driveway and garage floor concrete

Plumbing Remove junk / garden clippings

Flush drains
Replace / fix broken play equipment

Clean faucet heads and handles
Clean or repaint mailbox

Drain hot water heater / Clean
Move outdoor furniture from storage / Paint

Clean septic tank / add activator
Store outdoor furniture for winter

Change water purification filters
Clean barbecue grill

Setup sprinkler system for season (or drain)
Straighten garage

Clean trash out of window wells

Heating Do insect / pest check

Dust or vacuum radiator
Clean patio

Bleed radiator
Rinse outside walls / siding

Vacuum and wash heat registers
Repair nails in siding

Have heating system cleaned
Repair caulk on siding

Change furnace (blower) filter
Wash windows and screens

Change air conditioner filter

Service furnace / lubricate
Miscellaneous
Straighten blade fins on convectors
Organize loose keys / padlocks

Lubricate electric heaters
Wash out trash pails / waste baskets

Clean humidifier / or de-humidifier
Wash brooms and mops

Clean / service ceiling fans
Change smoke detector batteries--twice a year

Remove fireplace ashes (after they cool)
Check fire extinguishers

Have chimney/wood burning stove cleaned
Take down the outdoor Christmas lights.

Purchase firewood or coal
Polish staircase rails

Clean gas burners in fireplace
Service clocks

Clean fireplace bricks and glass
Service vacuum (bag, roller, belts)

Clean wood burning stove
Service appliances

Last weekend I cleaned out my basement room used to store my camping gear. I can now walk into the room as the floor is now clearly visible, not true before last weekend. Also, all my stuff is organized into various boxes and the boxes are labled. Lastly my most favorite packs are properly displayed at last. What has become of me? I am a shell of my former self!

I had a fit of cleaning as I was having a birthday party, then a house guest, two months in a row - nothing like having people in your house to make you tidy up!
But now it's time to tackle bigger stuff... like the enormous cabinet that takes up an entire bathroom wall, full of crap...
And the basement... they call it a full basement because it is full of stuff...
I am looking at FooFoo Gals' list with shock and awe - I hope she has help with all that! That is a huge list of stuff to clean!

While we were at my mom's house in Florida I discovered that Fu Manchu the pug enjoys looking out of a back porch window. Well, I have a back porch but my dad turned it into a book depository. It's almost the right temperature to start packing up the 2000 or so books back there and turn it back into a living space.
Then I'll go through my own collections of various stuff in every other room of the house and see what I want to sell.

Lord, those are just suggestions. I don't do all of that.
I used to be a cleanaholic as I used to live with my German SIL as a child some. You took your shoes off before coming in house. Noone cleaned like that woman. Noone.
My job as a kid was to comb the fringe on the persian rug every day in the parlor that noone ever went in.
I am not so bad in my old age but I do like to find stuff when I need it.
Today I have cleaned the fridge. Yeah.
Trying to set up a grandaughters room and getting nowhere. Hannah will be present but not overwhelming.
I start with one room and end up in another. lol

it amazes me what a difference it makes to not wear shoes in the house. one of the families i work for have a "no shoes" household, and i've noticed how much cleaner everything stays! (plus i feel less guilty when the kids eat food that's been dropped on the floor )

We NEVER wore shoes in the house as kids. As an adult I rarely wear shoes in my own house and cringe a bit when guests do. I nearly always remove my shoes in someone elses house out of habit. I always thought this was a midwest thing.

I'm with shooshoobaby, I've never really felt like cleaning, although I am pleased with the results.
