Philip Seymour Hoffman explanation (and I read somewhere else he has dreadlocks and would rather be made fun of for the hat, than for his hair-lol)

Apparently, the "Doubt" star had a good explanation for his headgear. The actor's rep, Karen Samfilippo, told USA Today that he's wearing the hat in order to cover up the coif that he sports in "Jack Goes Boating," a film that Hoffman is currently starring in and directing. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait 'til the movie comes out in 2011 to find out what's under that hat.

I thought the same thing (in addition to wincing at how uncomfortable that dress probably was). Matthew Broderick looked positively miserable all night.

I thought Taraji P. Henson looked wonderful as well as Tina Fey, Anne Hathaway and Penelope Cruz.

They were the standout couple of the evening. I believe Brad Pitt was wearing an emerald ring as well.

Far from being safe, I think the couples' choice of a classically elegant look in basic black paired with a few pieces of spectacular jewelry was inspired.

I like what they were going for, but I don't think the dress was tailored to her very well. The pink and gray jewelry don't with it, either.

I disagree. Pink is a tint of red, therefor always harmonious.
