Could you upload a higher res. photo? I saved that one to my computer and tried to blow it up, but it's just to small. I'd love to see the hat in all it's glory.

For those of you who've never seen...

MK's old site has some great Optimo photos.
http://www.thegoldenera.net/Optimo.html

The photos and the info. show their age. Graham looks a bit older, the shop has recently expanded, and if you can get a new Optimo felt for $400, then I'd like to submit an offer on your time machine.

Aerol's Optimo Homburg

Aerol emailed me this photo of his beautiful hat and gave me permission to post it here.
Enjoy.

Wow. Aerol's hat is stunning. I wanted Cacklewack to get a panama,
but that'll have to wait until the next visit home. Right now he only wears his Stack or his Optimo.
The dear man needs at least one more for his regular rotation!

And yes, I'm a sucker for great design and craft no matter the item, but clothing, hats and accessories have a particular soft spot with me.
I want a women's hat from Pinkham Millinery sooo badly...

I hope you all keep 'em coming here! I love to see what my hometown does well and
between Optimo, architecture and Hot Doug's, I often get nostalgic.

Many Thanks

Lefty, thanks for help posting.

Beaucaillou, thanks for the compliment.

Working with Graham is like using Captain Jack Sparrow's compass. You always get what you most want... even if you didn't know what it was when you walked in the store.

Nice, Bruce.
I love the wide brim, and the color of the edge binding really works.
Thanks for posting.

There really are a lot of Optimo guys hiding their hats, aren't there?

No need to lay low anymore, fellas. Let's see 'em.

Edit: Now I see what you guys in Chicago have to worry about.

Some snippets from the story:

Chicago residents have been sharing tips about how to avoid coming under attack by dive-bombing blackbirds.

Cyclists and pedestrians complain of being pecked after being chased for up to 100m (109 yards) by the creatures.

During nesting season, male red-winged blackbirds are known to defend their territory fiercely.

***

He said angry blackbirds could be deterred by a direct stare.

More radical suggestions aimed at fending off the swooping attackers have included mimicking the sound of a barking dog or even imitating a larger bird.

"Spread your arms and advance on him," one e-mail advisory suggested. "His pattern recognition will kick in making you look like a dangerous predator, such as a hawk."

Another correspondent suggested cyclists should install baskets on their bikes with a cat inside. "Or better yet, wear an oversized helmet with a trap-door with a stealth cat inside."

Seriously, that's all in the article.
So, if I see you aggressively riding your bike for 109 yards with your arms spread, barking like a dog, and frightening the cat in your basket, I'll understand, and meet you for coffee at yard 110.

I own one Optimo . . .

I don't know that they are the best value for the money . . .
But you can not argue that they are BEAUTIFUL . . .

I know that I started the Optimo milans thread, but that one ended up going all over the place. This seems like a more suitable home.

Here's the milan I purchased last week, which arrived in the mail yesterday.
I knew that Bruce Wayne's ribbon looked familiar.

I've seen those beautiful pinstripe DB suits you wear.
Whether or not you're a mobster, I'm sure that the comment has been slung your way every now and again.

Accept your underworld predisposition.

Let's see 'em - because, remember, if you're not with us...
let's just say that things could get unpleasant.

:cool2:

I would post my Optimo's in this thread, but I'm not a mobster, so I won't.:D
