Optimo Hat Show in NYC This October

So, I have an appointment with Optimo for October 1st when they are doing what I guess will be a trunk show in New York. I have to say I am pretty excited. Any suggestions? Advise? I am planning on trying on everything to see what looks best, and I will probably buy a custom hat if something really suits me. Is there anything I need to know about this process? Obviously, I am going to take my time, and if I don't really see anything that works then I am not going to buy. I have done it with suits before, but this will be the first time with hats. Thanks for your tips.

Also, any of Fed Lounge guys coming?

You're going to have a lot to consider, so you might not actually want to buy anything at the show. For starters, you'll want to figure out the style of the hat you want. Don't just buy an any Optimo for the sake of having one - buy the one for you. So, try to figure out what crown height and brim width you'd like, whether you're looking for a lighter or darker hat, whether you want something with a short or long hair felt, whether you're a thin or wide ribbon kind of guy (or whether it depends upon the hat), etc. You may end up going a completely different direction once you see the offerings, but at least you'll have a starting point.

You can always check out the styles and felts that Optimo has to offer, write down what you like, think about it for a while, and order by phone. No matter what you do, be sure to get your initials stamped into the sweat. It makes it more than a great hat - it makes it your great hat.
