Open Weave Hats Calado

There have been a few threads about straw hat with open weave. I'm digging out some pictures to show a few off. These are Montecristi Calados, woven, not sewn, with open weave. I have some Cuencas, but I'll have to dig them out.

Shoeshine boy had the above made into a hat. Can't find the glamour shot, though.

Calado on order with you now

Panama Bob, thanks for the news. I just ordered a hat from you this past week and I asked for a open weave. I now know to ask for a semi-calado. I will PM you about my order. Thanks again.

I can't say I'm a great fan of the full Calado PB, but I do like the semi's and really love the artwork it takes to make these. Just super!!!

The calado was for a woman. In fine Ecuadorian fashion, instead of a 6 7/8 it came up 7 1/4. We were making lemonade out of lemons.

My wife wears a 7 1/8 - 7 1/4. It would be beautiful on her, with the rear brim turned down instead of up.

PB, I wore my new Cuenca all day today and must say that it fits like a glove and is extremely comfortable. I'll post a photo sometime.

I really like this variation. It looks like summer in TX. Is that a pencil roll on the brim?

I also like this pattern. Is there a neme for it?

Is it possible to have these made in Cuencas?

Bob - is it hard to get that third semi calado made up? Please advise..

I'd guess in the $50.00-$100.00 range depending on which hatter you'd use to block and finish.
