TO: The Bright Young Things of the Vintage Cycling World here...
WANTED: Rubber 1930's handlebar grips (Original or Repro - UK or USA)..? Any help appreciated (as I need to get rid of the awful looking modern one's I have on the bike!). - got 'one' source from HBK and the more the merrier for choice...
ALSO: Pointers on where to locate a vintage brass/metal bicycle pump?
Paddy I was mistaken about the pump, what appeared to be patina was not. It is pretty neat looking though with a wooden handle the price is 19.00 U.S. dollars they also had a very minty chrome light from 1906 that was in perfect shape and looked to be acetylene powered for 495.00 dollars. I took pics of both with my camera phone, but am at a loss on how to show them here. p.m. me your mobile number and I can transmit them to you.
Need 15+ posts to initiate the PM facility here (lots of little 'nice hat' comments will get you there in no time). Then use 'photobucket' as an online host for your photos (paste the IMG code straight into here). Thanks again, Regards, Paddy.
A group of friends and I did a vintage inspired tour last year from Great Yarmouth to Dulwich (London) over three days. Many of us were riding older bicycles, mine was a 1959 Hercules Popular:
While fixing the chain... the only thing to go wrong in 192 miles!
We're planning our ride for this year at the moment, we're doing Dover to London via Canterbury, mostly following National Cycle Route 1.
I'm also working on the outfit, I'll be wearing tan versions of the William Lennon cycle shoes...
I'm waiting for material samples from Spencers Trousers who are going to make some full cut plus fours with a reinforced seat (I wore all the way through the seam on the plus twos last year).
We're hoping that it will be a little easier than last year(only 120 miles)!
