Just what is it that I have here?? The top pin is simply marked Sterling on the back and is an inch and a half long, and appears to depict lightning emanating from the center where there is a falling bomb(?) with wings(?) It MUST be post WW2, as I have never seen it's like before grouped with the well known WW2 patterns in any book.
The second one is an inch and three quarters long, and is marked; "1/20 silver filled Krew G1"
What are they,....pray tell? [huh]

A partial answer...

... the hallmark on the second pin gives you at least a few clues. ANY combination of number/letter (e.g. 1/V, G1, 9/M) dates the wing or insignia as post WWII. Established in the late 1940s - early 1950s, this classification system specifies a maker and year. That's why so many command pilot wings (for instance) are hallmarked 9/M, which dates it from the Korean War era.

Nicholas Morigi (a militaria specialist in the UK dealing mostly in repro items) lists these as Explosive Ordnance Disposal wings for the US Army. Close, but I don't know if the star makes a difference.

... if this holds true to OTHER US Army insignia from the period, the star on the one you show probably indicates a "senior" Explosive Ordnance Disposal expert. Senior usually connotes 5-10 years of service.

The top wings are Navigator/Observer wings from the postwar to present day era.

I wasn't sure, since the examples of that I've seen all have the stars above the insignia. I'm no expert, so didn't want to risk a dodgy opinion

I knew I would find the answers here! I was guessing they were post- WW2, and the wings do seem to suggest navigation, but I would never have guessed the bomb disposal pin.
