Old Barbisio

Here's a strange Barbisio I saw the other day - the owner let me take a picture of it. The felt is dimpled all over, brim is short (I think 2" or less), and it has a strange side-bow with a '30s look. No pic, but the bow is a series of thin vertical sections with a row of short right-tilting points along the top. By the liner and sweat, my guess is '30s-40s, but it could be '50s.

No idea what that's supposed to be. Maybe for some textural variety, like your old Schoble Spinner and some of those extremely shiny peluche finishes?

Its a 1950s Barbisio from what I can see on the outside of the hat. Back bows with thick ribbons like that were popular in the 50s. The felt effect is like that of straw from what I can see. The squares overlap like woven straw. Leave it to Barbisio to come out with something that unique.
Panizza had some interesting offerings then as well.

Hi all. If I don't avoid forums altogether, I end up buying stuff , but I do miss discussing stuff with you all and will check in more often.

This hat DOES have a golf-ball dimple look. I told the owner I could probably get $75 for it and he was very excited. If anyone's interested, let me know, but I can't guarantee the size - my guess was 7 1/8, but it might be a 7.

It's going to be a bit dirty, as the owner stands on the street corner selling "Real Change".
