Agreed with what Randooch said. I recently had a haircut, and well, my hats slide on a tad easier, haha!

Hats do have the ability to be stretched and shrunk to sizes, as long as it is not over the top, like a 6 1/2 to a size 7 3/4.

For info on this, go to google, and type "How to stretch a hat site:thefedoralounge.com" Always use 'site:thefedoralounge.com' as it will only show results from this site.

No, your apparant head size would increase due to the loss of body fat.

Seriously,

This would depend on how much subcutaneous fat resides in the area where a sweatband contacts a head, right? Maybe we have some Loungers knowledgeable in physiology who could weigh in.

Losing body weight does (as several have stated) cause you to lose weight in your head so it's possible to go from a 7 3/8 to a 7 1/4 but not much more than that. You can also get a hat stretched easily the same amount. I would have it professionally done if it were me but it is possible to do it yourself. Shaving your head would work too. Ask me how I know this....LOL!

The same goes for shoe, glove and ring size. Like hat size, with pronounced weight loss, those can shrink too. That said, it really depends on a person's specific fat distribution. I imagine hat size would be the least pronounced, though, since there's not much "meat" to the scalp where a hat sits.

That REALLY does it, You've done it now! Right after I type this, all the donuts, ice cream and candy is GONE! Right out the house and into the trash! If I can have a smaller hat size fit me, by losing weight??? Watch out twiggy, here I come...I want to wear a smaller size hat as they are all over the place for sale...having to scream and pout to find a hat in a 7 1/2 is starting to create a National Security Violation! lol! I will need a new nick name now...humm....I know..., "Starving Hat Man" !!!! lol!!!

Did not Archie Bunker call someone, "meat head"?

Like Seabass, but for different reasons, I lost 50 recently and yes, your hats will fit differently. As will your ring, your watch, your bracelet, and YOUR PANTS. Trust me on this!

I have always heard that weight lose shows in a persons face first, I would agree, your hat size will reduce in size.

+1 to that. The fat reserves in the face (cheeks especially) and around the skull fluctuate quite easily. Excessive aerobic training or long workouts (boxing, other martial arts, whatever) while holding the total body weight can also reduce these reserves considerably if the reserves were filled up to begin with. Some individuals are more prone to losing fat reserves in these areas than others.

I agree. Also from experience with weight loss.

Last year I experienced several months of unexpected unexplained weight loss. And, at the same time began to cut my own hair. Buzz cut with a shaver. Not much left to cut anyway.
Went from a 6 7/8 hat size to a 6 3/4. Took me right out of the best vintage buying hat size to a more difficult size to find in vintage hats.

Went to smaller size in all clothing articles. Bought some clothes at Goodwill until my weight finally stabilized. I eventually sold off or traded all my 6 7/8 size hats.

Losing weight definitely can reduce hat size.
