O/T camera help needed

I just took a pic of a watch I had serviced and it doesn't look anywhere near as good as it does in real life.

In fact it looks like it was stolen from the wrist of a drunk dead in the gutter . It looks a lot better than that.

How do I get my camera (its only a happy snap 8MP Lumix cheapie) to capture real shine and sparkle?

I'm keen to know as this must also help with auction outcomes.

Any advice appreciated.

I'm not too familiar with that camera, but a couple pointers:
-Use a macro mode if your camera has one
-Get nice and close
-Pull out the manual. See if your camera has an aperture priority mode, and how to use it. Try setting your aperture to the widest setting, or at least close to it. (This lets in a lot of light and prevents motion blur from your hands shaking.)
-Do it while the sun is out so it's nice and bright
-Put the watch near a window so it's nice and light, but not in direct sunlight
-Do not ever use the flash!

Give this approach a try and see if it helps.
