It's good to finally see some interest. I though maybe I must have arrived too late for the party.
I have a passion for SAW Campaign Hats for some reason and have been looking for a proper repro. I tried James, at Eurika Arsenal for almost a year. ...seems like a great guy but received no real commitment after several serious requests for him to make one for me.

I know I can make one myself if I can gain advice on the best style Stetson or Resistol to work with. I have a few used eBay cowboy hats on my watch list but will need help in finding the correct ribbon once I find the hat.

Any help would be appreciated....

Thanks,

Dick

just word of advice , it can be areal hassle makeing up those hats ,and if you havnet got a sewing machine ,and by the time you track down the correct ribbon etc it can turn into an expensive exercise, , you are probly better off spending 93. 50 at the quartermaster depot, and then you get what you want ,with no hassles , cheers

Yup, Mike did the underwelt.
This has got to be the best i've seen.
Mike has very reasonable prices.
So much work to make these. the star, the ribbon, the welt, the edge stitching plus in a better felt that will not shrink.
unfortunately not mine, but i have two very unique ones made by him
this should pass muster

I understand that they did come with chinstraps and felt grommets. Mike @ Northwest Hats probably would have done anything that I wanted, but I didn't need the chinstrap. The originals weren't lined, either. I understand that a lining kind of defeats the purpose of the side vents, but I requested the liner anyway. Mike added a couple of other nice details as well. I'll see whether I can upload some more pictures.

The hat was done in natural (color) beaver felt with a 1" kangaroo (color) ribbon. Mike Miller and I researched this very thread before making the hat.
