According to the article, up in Burgundy they have been slowly rebuilding a medieval castle, using only materials and techniques that were used in the Middle Ages. This is the very definition of “old school.”
Now they are transferring these skills to the rebuilding of Notre Dame.

First they found oak trees big enough for the job. Now they are using appropriate rebuilding techniques. Sounds like the rebuild is not going to be the disaster that I had feared. Quote: “This is not just nostalgia. There is a reason the roof lasted 800 years. This is why. There is no heart in Sawmill wood.” Love that quote.
