ND,
There are no right or left foot in stockings. But they may feel a bit strange until you get used to them, especially if you are used to modern hosiery. Is there any reinforcement at the toes at all? Most of my stockings have some type of reinforcement or different type of weave at the toes. After you've put on your stockings and before you hook them to the garters, just run your hand up along the back of your leg to check to see that the seam is in the middle of your leg and adjust accordingly. (That sounds so basic, but I had a friend who was wearing stockings one evening and I noticed in the ladies room that her seams were on the sides of her legs! She said she didn't care, but they certainly looked odd to me. ) Also, hook the farthest garter in the back first, the one closest to the seam as this will keep the seam straight.
I'm sure once you get accustomed to stockings, you'll wonder why you hadn't discovered them sooner!
