Not bad for a mall jacket

Brown or black sheepskin, front/back yoke, broad collar, clean lines. Interesting side seams on back (I think). Could go with a vintage wardrobe from 40's-60's. And you might be able to get on sale around the holidays.

Tbh that one doesn't grab me but if we're talking mall jackets there is one in shopping centres right now that does.

This by Levis

It appears to be in the same buffalo as their current leather truckers. This buffalo speaks to me, is totally comfortable on, and the fit for size L was great. In fact it fit me exactly as I'd want this style to. Sooo.. when I saw one for $275 with free shipping to the US on ebay I didn't hang about. Attached are a few of the sellers pics to give you an idea

*edit: funny thing with this jacket is it's actually cheaper in the UK than the US (320 GBP versus $498). I don't know how that works

I'd be very leery of that lamb without seeing it in the flesh, so to speak. Before I discovered the Lounge, I bought one from Orvis that felt like Charmin tissue and that I gave away just to be rid of. For the same money you could go Vanson or Johnson's.
The bottom jacket says "genuine leather" (where does it say "buffalo"?). Genuine leather is, I believe, the scrapings of a leather hide boiled into a pulp and often stamped to look like grain. You often see it in cheaper jackets or in "leather" handles on backpacks, etc. I believe there's information on it on the Horween site. From what I've gathered, a number of retailers get away with profiting from the deceptive name, as it sounds like the real thing. In any case, both hides are the stuff of mall jackets.

It's not a bad looking jacket but yeah, that whole "genuine leather" thing is soooo deceptive. I have some articles of clothing that say genuine leather and I now realize it is as you said. Just a bunch of scraps bonded together which cannot ever be as strong as a quality hide.

To give some UK context, this looks like something from Marks and Spencers or Next. Or in more general terms, probably not good. At this point in my life, the idea of just walking into a high street shop to purchase a jacket is a strange concept to me. Who would do that?

re the levis if that's what their 'genuine leather' is then this is pretty sneaky. They've put that one and a leather trucker in stores at the same time for the same price in the same colour in hides that look to be identical. But yeah, the truckers are marked buffalo and the motos 'genuine leather', which is disappointing.

Ultimately, for me that's probably a decent 'beater' that I could one day use to size another in this style further down the line, from a more dignified maker in a better hide, if I wanted. Or I could just send it back. I'll probably keep it.

As for this process of 'genuine leather.' Yep, that is some tampering that doesn't sound good.. but all leather as we know it has been tampered with by men to different extents and in different ways to get it into something that we can put on our backs. Am I saying this one will age like badalassi or hold up like cxl? No of course not, but for knocking around in given its comfort and the fit I think I can enjoy it and give it some wear
