I walked out on the porch a couple of hours ago and found a box from Mike Miller. Who knew the US Post Office would be delivering on a Sunday. So I snapped a few pics to post. It's a grade 8 Semi-Calado. Mike calls it a fancy pattern. The ribbon treatment is something I came up with. I call it a "Shark Tail". The brim is 2 3/4" and the navy blue ribbon is 1 5/8". The top of the "Shark Tail" is 3 1/4".

My daughter is getting married on the 25th. I'm wearing a navy blue suit. This may very well be the hat for the occasion. Of course the daughter will have the final say.

I am beginning to envy you. Not so much for all these great Panamas but for the fact you live in a climate hot enough to justify wearing even one. Up here in the rain forest spring has barely arrived let alone summer. At this rate I may get to wear my Panamas for a few days in August.

It arrived a few days ago. I've worn it twice since then. The weave is nice and airy.

I have been remiss in keeping up with the NW Hats thread. Mike and I had a wonderful visit last Thursday. We talked hats, covid, gardens and life for about an hour and a half. I got to fondle some wonderful felt and straw, the best therapy one could have. Picked up my latest creation by Mike...the Black Cherry! When Winchester changed the dye lot a few years ago, their black cherry felt became almost black, made me long for the old days. Well, Mike got a hold of a couple of old dye lot bodies from Art and knew I would want one (it pays to have a personal hatter!), and since I was already "up" in the queue, a new masterpiece was born. Had to go with his special 'dog ear' gills and some spiffy edge work. The double tear drop is influenced by @Bill Hughes

That double tear drop has become a Northwest signature....that hat is a Wow!
