I agree whole heartedly with John. I have worn a fedora all day every day for thirty years, and if the clothes I'm wearing don't like it, that's just too bad.

I do quite often need to go downtown and I don´t want to dress up too much, so I usually wear (more often then I´d like to) just some pants with shirt (usually the first I find, sometimes with necktie, because I´m trying to wear the neckties as much as the temperatures allow) and when it´s colder I add a leather jacket. It may not always look well, but it´ quite comfortable and I don´t need to have an umbrella (it´s rainy here these days)
