Sure, no argument here! But I thought perhaps easing a person into my bordering on absurd interests (to other folks!) might be an interesting alternative to my usual way of meeting people. I dunno. I'd join your site.

There is some cause to hope, however. I showed her a FL member's avatar, some woman in one of those 'flapper' hats, (no idea what those are called) and she thought it was really cool. So now I can just get her one of these, and we are on our way together.

I'm a lucky guy, myself. My wife loves my interests, as they closely mirror her own. I don't go totally retro; in that I don't adhere to any particular time "period", but I will let myself be inspired by things from many different eras. We are both into things that simply appeal to us. It's almost coincidental that most things that do interest us happen to be what most folks would call vintage. The vintage things that we like, we try to blend with the more contemporary things that we like. One of her interests are parasols. She not only likes them for the accessory aspect of them, but she really kind of needs them because she is a redhead with very fair skin and burns very easily. She will have no problem carrying a lacy parasol while wearing jeans. She loves how I look in a hat, or that I use fountain pens (a habit she has picked up). I'd have to say that we are more instinctively retro, than studiously retro.
