Noir Music for your Hat

Good tune Craig:eusa_clap
I like your voice, and the Uke sounds good. Chords you don't normally associate with the Uke.
Makes me almost want to get one. You should (if you haven't already) put the 'chord window' music for your tunes so people can play them, as (going by that tune) it's a breath of fresh air in the Ukelele world.

Jeff.

Thanks, Raindog. If you're ever in Boston...attend a Ukulele Noir event...it's ukulele music for grown ups. (or, as in my case, people who will never grow up!)

You should get one. As Krusty the Klown said: "The ukulele is the thinking man's violin"

That's awsome Craig! If you go on the road and make it to Texas please let me know!

I love neoretro and carnival type music. We have some great bands in Texas that are all unplugged and play tin-pan alley style. The one you have probably heard of is The Asylum Street Spankers from Austin, they really get around.

You should check out the Moonlighters (NYC) then. And do you know Folk Uke,(Cathy Guthrie (yes, that Guthrie) and Amy Nelson (yes, that Nelson) from Austin? They'll be playing at Ukulele Noir 13 on May 5th in Boston...http://www.ukulelenoir.com

Always lots of fedoras at Ukulele Noirs...

Thanks, Craig, that was fun! I enjoyed the song and music.

Maybe it will inspire me to take some lessons on that little "Flea" uke I got last year.

karol

Hi, Karol: yes, indeed, take some lessons. If you need some resources, contact me off board and I will help. the "flea" is a good uke to start with.

without being too comercial, I DO have CD's available at http://www/robertsonstudio.com and you can listen to more music there on the "downloads" page.

UKELELE NOIR!

....what a great concept! I love it. I have several friends play the Uke, but mostly in a George Formby/Ragtimeish way. I love what you're doing, especially those moody chords. And the hat.

have you heard the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain? A proper 1930s style Ukelele band but with a wide and eclectic repertoire. Sort of the Dambusters March followed by Teenage Kicks.

Thanks, NATC...the "round" banjo-ukes, Formby-style, are more popular in England. I communicate frequently with Mr. Penultimate and the UOGB, they're great. I'm hoping to get over there this fall.

You can check out more of what I'm doing (musically, that is, right NOW I'm sanding a door!) at:
http://www.robertsonstudio.com/pages_music/download.html

and, by the way, you can play ukulele better if you're wearing a fedora...
