I just wanted to touch on the outfit end of wearing the "classic headwear, the Fedora"

I never wear a suit when I wear my fedora. No need. They go with everything short of a Speedo. I thought I'd mention to anyone interested in wearing one that although fedoras worn with a nice suit look very appealing; feel free to wear with a nice leather jacket (full, 3/4 or short),jean jacket, sport jacket, trenchcoat, hooded sweatshirts, hiking jacket. They go with jeans, codoroys, baggy/non-baggy khahkis and even camo. They look great with all of the above.

The trick to wearing them with anything is matching the color with some flair (basically like anything else you wear.) IMHO anyone who really loves fedoras should have at least 1 grey/charcoal, 1 tan/camel, 1 brown, and yes even 1 black! (+Remember black goes with every color in the spectrum with ease) Other colors nice but not needed include but not limited to: off-white, forest green, and dark navy. I suppose a color like brown could go with most if not all other colors you are wearing, but by expanding your color collection you add that much more to having a new look/new outfit.

To heck with the suit bit!! I wear mine with a jean jacket and blue jeans, sometimes with my brown short leather jacket, I've worn them with my hooded sweatshirt layered under my blue jean jacket. They all look sharp, unique and stylish. Feel free to wear with turtle necks, sweaters and open collored dress shirts. Match your fav fedora color to a layered shirt or the pants. It's the 21st century and anything goes!

Style and a creative flair go a long way! Suits are great but lets face it, a weekend warrior is so much more fun!

Ps
I need still need a black and tan myself and then I'll be good to go!

I've mentioned this many times myself. Besides if we take a look at films or documentaries we see that most people wearing fedoras are NOT wearing suits and are instead clothed in a variety of casual or even work clothes.:fedora:

Hallelujah! Fedoras and Jeans!

I'm glad to hear these comments. Ever since I discovered fedoras, I have been wearing them mostly with jeans, and most of the time no jacket or coat (don't need a jacket too much in Florida). I think it looks natural that way and who knows, we may reinvent the style of the day. Besides, if I couldn't wear a fedora with jeans, then I wouldn't be wearing one much, and I love wearing my hats!

I wear jeans and topsiders everyday, since it's always cold in the office I bring along either a Levi denim jacket or sometimes a black silk sportcoat. Sometimes a black tuxedo jacket. I try to make my t-shirt or long sleeve dress shirts match or at least coordinate with the hat, and my shoes and belt match the band. I like to wear my tails out, cuffs unbuttoned. We're getting into summer, I'm now experimenting with Hawaiin style and other short sleeve shirts. I wear a gray Stetson a lot and a olive green Dobbs. Looking for a brown and a black one.

What doesnt' go with fedoras? I would think shorts and running shoes.

I wear 'em with whatever I have. When I go to a T-shirt and jeans, I wear either a Panama or my old Open Road in fedora style....or a western hat.

it sounds like a lot of guys here would be just regular dressed guys if it wasn't for the addition of the fedora. as if just wearing a fedora makes an average (or worse...slobby) outfit look sharp. in my opinion the wearing of a fedora will only HIGHLIGHT the slovenly nature of your clothes.

just my snobby british opinion though.

Herringbonekid, Just because one doesn't wear a suit, doesn 't make him a slob or slovenly. I would look kind of silly wearing a suit where I live, in a suburban setting in laid back Northern California. One can look nice and very neat in jeans, a nice shirt (tucked in), and a fedora...

I even wore my Adventurebilt with a t shirt with shorts once, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend it...

By the way, Harrison Ford looked pretty good in a fedora in his leather jacket or his suit...KC (at Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu, Peru)

I'm generally to be seen in my black or grey fedora, Navy or khaki pleated-front Dockers and one of my soft cotton long-sleeve St John's Bay shirts.

The Dockers are fairly high-waisted, up to my navel, so the style is sort of semi-classic. The shirt's armholes are, alas, too large, so the shirttails pull out if I reach up. They're pretty comfortable otherwise.
