NEWS BOY CAPS

When dealing with hats, you are always best trying them on before purchasing. I have several Newsboy caps from the maker Park Royal, their sizing is the S, M, L, XL. By trying on these I was able to find ones that fit.

The letter sizes are like the number sizes but skip some of the intermediate sizes. You can usually find one that fits comfortably.

Also, when it comes to hats, there are tricks to adjust the sizing when the hat is a little too big. You can slip some paper or strips of felt behind the sweat band to snug it up.

Yes...and at half the price of the Stetson. They also make custom caps: http://stores.ebay.com/zasucaps

.

Ah yeah I've seen them linked here before I believe, how are they quality wise?

I'm guessing I just contact them through ebay for custom pieces?

And yeah John, I'm aware. Sadly I don't have the luxury of being able to try on a larger selection of styles and brands where I'm located, so I have to gamble online and for that I prefer the number sizes, even though it can be as much of a hassle/difference from maker to maker as it is with shoe sizes. Thanks for the tip either way.

I LOVE that cap! Is it '20s? It really goes well with the jacket, shirt and tie. (And the facade in the background too!)

This is the only NBC I own. It's a Hanna's Hats 8 piece in grey Donegal tweed that my parents bought for my birthday last year. I've worn it daily all through the winter. It's very full cut - not for the faint-hearted. (It has a pretty small button too!)

Seems like it's not possible to contact Zasu caps through the "Contact Member" link.

How have you people that have bought custom caps from them gone about doing so?

Oh-oh! I guess I'm fixing to see if Zasu caps is good. I just pulled the trigger and bought a cap from them. I'll have to wait until payment clears before they even send so it'll be a few days.

My new Belfry Street Newsie came from Hats in the Belfry, this weekend. It's much less poofy than the other one I ordered. It's a keeper. I need to get some pics taken and posted. I'll do that soon.

Today, I am wearing my newest cap from Brett Stiles, the cap maker at the B!Wear Cap Co.

He has a new larger billed cap, which is displayed on his website. I have been wanting larger bills and ordered it in the black & gray herringbone color seen on the display. The cap, too, is a bit larger.

It is gorgeous -- has his usual great craftsmanship (leather band, silk lining) plus I like the bigger sized bill.

I will be ordering more of this style in the near future.

Newsboy Hats

I have a Borsalino Newsboy hat in grey Harris tweed that I like very much, got from Bencraft Hatters in NYC. It cost about $85 or so. Very well made, warm in winter, smart looking.

I've wanted a Wigens newsboy cap this year, but couldn't find the exact one I wanted in my size and color. I have been dealing with Delmonico Hatters in New Haven, a store that I find quite good.

I think the Newsboy is a great look, and my "other" hat look aside from the Fedora for winter.

And I as well. Ernest I'm very interested in how it fits. Their sizing system seems to be a little vague.

I don't have a digital camera nor anyone here who could take a photo and get it on the Lounge, so no, unfortunately.

However, the one on the website looks just like mine. I have a full face and the cap looks better on me than the smaller caps do. I am planning to buy the one with the copper color, which is also displayed as a full cap.

I understand any of those caps he makes can be made into the fuller, bigger brimmed cap. Not only that, but people can send him their own material and he will make a cap for you.

The price for the fuller cap is a little higher, but not much and it is still a bargain considering what other quality cap makers charge.
