Newbie pokes at Nutria...

I'm rather anxiously awaiting a (western) hat I won on eBay, (pictures of) the sweatband show
"John B. Stetson Co. Philadelphia, Boss Raw Edge, Kettle Finish, Made of Real Nutria Fur". And: "Silverwoods Los Angeles Hollywood".

So, right now, it's a bit early to be poking nutria, but I'm doing research on the hat, on this forum, and Googling my eyes out.

I hope to be able, within reasonably short, to make some useful contribution to the ongoing Stetson Nutria debate; from what I've read so far, it seems hat-history is a difficult subject. I've noticed I can't post attachments, which I interpret as "no pictures". When shall I be able to, must I first reach some threshold?

Unfortunately, this site doesn't allow picture attachments,
no matter how many posts you make.
At 15 posts you can do PM email.

What you can do is post pictures using a URL.
You need to sign up for a picture posting service,
such as flickr.com.

For example, here is your excellent hat:

That is taken from the listing (and will probably expire- apologies
to those reading this thread a few months or years from now).

This is going to be a great hat. I might have been
tempted to bid even higher if it had fit me. Looking
forward to more pictures soon.

Feltfan (very nutricious name, that is ;) ) and Tinman, the others, many thanks (gosh, I feel the warmth of brotherhood). I considered posting the very very recent exchanges I'm having with seller of the hat, but decided against that because, well, there may be some possible family privacy that need not be put on public view, but I feel all warm about this ebay purchase now. To make it short, this hat quite simply belonged to seller's Great Aunt, who bought the hat and put it in a box, where it seems to have remained for decades. I assured seller that the hat wouldn't be worn in any disco and that I intend this hat to be treated as the historical heritage I sense it is, possibly returning -in due time- to the USA if that be the worthiest destiny for it. For, let's be realistic, I don't see my sons wearin' any cowboy hats. I do, because I profoundly like them cowboy hats). Just a small reminder that there is yet the tiniest lil' spark of Americana left in me. Nobody's perfect.
I'll be back.
