I rather like the middle one....

if I were allowed to rip the ribbon off and put a thin, regular one on it.

And they'll look rather foolish, all the while... At least the Sherlock Holmes homburg and the Pablo weren't that bad, compared to the rest of the lot. Actually, some of these can look good if all it means is a simple ribbon replacement.

It's more about the name brand and what's "in" then whever they actually look good or not. Combine that with the fact that their are only 50 being made for each, and I'm sure they will sell.

Given some of the "fashions" that march down runways on a regular basis, these hats could be a lot worse. Scary but true. Since I have never seen a runway outfit "in the wild" I don't expect to see these lids, either. If you hear that I died of a heart attack during a swanky dinner cruise, you'll know why.

I've always been amazed at how bad the "designers" can make a beautiful person look. If those models look that bad why would a "real" person ever even consider buying "designer" clothes?

I wonder how long til Stetson comes out with a Spandex line?

In a way, this is a good thing......

Wait don't start throwing beer mugs at me....

I mean if stetson went out and got a designer to make a new hat line for them, then that means people are wearing more hats ...

No ???

At least that is how I see it...

Do I like these hats.. NO !

Would I ever wear one of these hats if given to me ......NO NO NO...

I wouldn't even let my dog in my avatar try one on..... lol

I'd wear the first two, with a little reshaping and a decent ribbon retro-fitted to them.... The third one, not so much.

I think the first hat is relatively decent, although I can't help but want to straighten the ribbon a little, and the crease/crown/brim aren't a very appealing combo. The second just looks silly, and could probably be "fixed" with a new ribbon. The final stingy brim isn't all that bad - if it were made of cotton and sold at Walmart. I'm sure it's fur felt and costs a fortune, in which case you'd be mad to purhcase it. [huh]

These hats echo what's happening in the hat industry now. Namely, hipsters are trying to stay hip, and marketing execs are trying to create a wave of new "cool" hats that are pretty out of touch.

I don't think anyone expects the regular folks to buy these. They grab attention for hats, the designer, and Stetson, and then the diluted form of one or more of those things filters down to the rest of us.

When designers put models in fatigues with lace, I don't expect to see camo tutus at the mall. I do expect to see cargo pockets, brass buttons, and other military influences on everyday clothing.

These are basically standard Stetson models that have been decorated/enhanced by a designer of Women's Millinery. They are intentionally rather Unisex in style. If you like the hats but not the ribbons and stitching there are Stetsons like that available in their current catalog. The prices are not that much more than their regular line. I don't think they really allowed him to create any hat forms just fluff them up and feminize somewhat.

The new Fedora Lounge Swanepoel Prize

Hi

Mav wrote: "I propose that FL establish a "Swanepoel Prize," to be awarded, annually."

I propose that it be awarded to the Lounger filmed wearing the most pimpin' hat for that calendar year IN PUBLIC, pictured with other members of society actually able to view our Lounger earning the prize (or if you prefer publicly disgracing themselves).

Judges to be Mav (he thought of it), Yeps (has class), Mr E Train (it's his fault for finding them), and jbucklin (who is more colorful than the rest of us).

We need a fifth (judge), not me, I have no taste, and not Matt Deckard because he does.

I think that Mr E Train can handle the Swanepoel Prize from here. :eusa_clap

Book Him !!!

The suspect Albertus Swanepoel was advised of his rights under Miranda v. Arizona and made the following statement in response to questioning :

Q. Being that you are a hat designer, how often do you wear a hat?

A. I don’t really wear hats, except in the cold of winter. I don’t feel I have to be Exhibit A of my career!

Charges are pending. :D

Hey, they're hats. If people buy them and wear them, great. We need more hats out there, regardless of styles.
