It didn't particularly bother me. The one Meyer-ism that was really puzzling to me, however, was all the -- Wait, PURPLE?! Since when??? -- Klingon blood in ST6. And the fact that Starfleet phasers would even create puncture wounds like that to begin with.
In The Man Trap, Kirk expressed regret at having to kill the salt vampire at the end of the episode, if I recall correctly.
Well I think all that red blood wouldve been bad for their film rating. So they made it pretty alien blood. But I see your point.
The funniest thing about MANTRAP is...McCoy strips Kirk of a phaser? THENSpock cant pull the phser out of McCoy's hand???? He struggles w/ McCoy & then decides to punch the vampire to show McCoy its not really the old grrlfriend. Hysterical. And of course this is long before they came up w/ the idea of the vulcan neck pinch. And you've gotta love Shatner's screams. I dont think he screams like that again til Wrath of Khan.
In Wrath...his screams really struck me as a bit out of character...then i remembered Shatner did scream in TWiliteZone as well. Lots of passion in Wrath. Not the best editing, but still unsurpassed.
