Hey @Merv , do you suppose a size S may fit a 40 inch chest?
Did you find the fit to be slim ? Or regular? Could you fit a hoodie under this size S?

Sorry for asking too many questions, just wanting to check if size S would fit me. I am usually a size M in Schott

Merv i have handled this jacket, actually a burgundy like yours, its top of the line. There aren't many jackets that are of a higher quality period, regardless of hide and region of manufacturing
I agree. Many primary concern when trying a jacket on is fit. I ride in my jackets- I wanted then slightly fitted. Can’t stand jackets that flap around with extra material in the arms etc. I also don’t want them too tight, like to be able to relax and move while I’m riding. I guess it’s a thin line. I should’ve bought two!!!

Same pattern as PER70 so I can confirm. I consider it my end-game, non-vtg cross zip and this time for real. Just had it on yesterday, can't seem to think of one single thing I'd improve.

I loved your thread about it. Do you know which other jackets are on this pattern? I’ve been trying to figure out what’s most like a non-distressed PER70 based on measurements and pictures, but measurements aren’t patterns!

They use the same set of pattern as a base for a lot of their jackets but might be some are a bit tweaked so I can't know for sure if they're exactly the same but the ones that seem to belong to the same family are (you'll notice they even copy/pasted the same blurb on how these fit)...

https://www.schottnyc.com/products/mens-naked-cowhide-motorcycle-jacket.htm?color=14&catID=5

https://www.schottnyc.com/products/buffalo-perfecto-jacket.htm?color=1&catID=5

There have been more in the past, too. Some of the Horween ones, etc.

Those fit pics on their site are the biggest issue with this jacket. I was avoiding it, how bad it looks on the models, until I got my PER70. I think a lot more people would buy it if only they knew sizing down is the key.

Thanks, Monitor. This is more or less the list I had narrowed down to as well in terms of being described similarly to your PER70’s fit. I think the 613S/SH might fall into that category as well. [I’d be curious to get the spec sheets for those two from Schott and to compare them with the Japanese 613US/UH which seem otherwise similar, except that they’re available in a variety of shades.)

613 in any form should be very different. I wouldn't compare it to PER70. I had all kinds of 613's, different jacket altogether so be careful.

been down this road. The 613 US is essentially the 613s in concept-- slimming down arms, lengthening, etc. Basically the Japanese requested it before Schott started making it for national market. There's a few subtle differences for instance the belt buckle is more octagon shape in the US vs S or just plain 613. The panel on the lower back is also cut different shape. The UST (T for tall) is longer than a 613, but not quite as long as a 613 S/SH (and also has bigger front drop I think on S/SH)

There are a lot of cool variations on the 613 in the Japanese market. They have one with brass hardware instead of usual silver. Different lining options. It's an endless spiral. Could probably get 10 variations of the same jacket with small little differences in each model.

The 613sh is killer. I've been on the hunt for a size 40. Thought I bagged one and then the ebay seller went MIA. I almost bought the 613 UST, but then decided I already have a Perfecto (118). For me it was about getting one in horse hide. So think I'll patiently wait for one to pop up.

I specified the 613S and 613US [Japanese version] for a reason. :) They're slimmer variants of the 613 like the 519 you linked.

Fantastic and helpful. I have a horsehide cross-zip on the way from Aero, but I'm after a 613S at some point [before I discovered it, I was considering importing a UHT, and I actually saw the octagonal buckle as a drawback]. I think I'll want to drop by their New York store and/or Jersey factory sale to try them on, because I tried on a size 40 618HH at a dealer, and it was a little too snug. I'm sure it would loosen up with wear, but I'd want to try the 42 despite being a 40 in many slim jackets.

I also have a pretty long torso so a 26" jacket just covers the belt line of my usual high-waisted jeans. I'd have to try on the 25" 613S and make sure it doesn't make me look like a low-rise wearing loser.

what's your height and weight? I'm 6'0 and in the 185-188 range most days. I'm in between sizes on most Schotts so I tended to buy the bigger size and either dealt with it or tried to do a minor shrink by getting jacket wet and wearing in the sun, etc. I tried on a 40 613SH and it fit perfectly, but I literally could not gain another pound. I found the size 42 slightly bigger, not the usual jump in sizes, but once the 40 felt so perfect, it would be hard wearing the 42 with that subtle looseness. Keep in mind though I'm in LA, so it's pretty much tshirt only. Probably a safe bet to go for the 42, but i"m hard headed LOL.

There is/was a 613S 42 on Ebay. Think opening bid of $450 which ain't bad at all.

618 40 will fit differently than a 613SH or S 40. You don't have the under arm footballs. So right off the bat, you're losing some range of motion. The S and SH are going to fit more like the 519. Also, the back length is still on the shorter side but both the S and SH have a front drop. At 6'0 I didn't feel like the SH was short and believe me, I'm really aware of that now because I have a few jackets that are on the shorter side so I was looking for something different on these.

I may just put a pair of stars on my 118 and call it a day. I really dialed in the fit with a couple of washes and drying sessions and I absolutely love the naked leather. I don't ride, so the non top coat is a non issue for me. The leather is super soft and super comfortable and I got some amazing creases going. I need to take an updated WAYWT pic, but too damn hot lately.

6'1, with a weight that fluctuates between 190-200 [not sure what it is now.]

Yeah I saw that! But with a cross-zip on the way I feel like the saner thing to do is to wait until that arrives before ordering another one right this moment.

Yeah, the bolded bit is what made me think 42 in the S/SH might be a good call.

I tried on a a 619 in M, which was sort of drapey because of the leather used, but zipped up neatly enough on my body. The 618HH was quite snug, even with the underarm footballs, though I expect at least some of that was down to the horsehide not being broken in. That's why part of me is thinking a 42 613S/SH might be a step up in size without being a full on step to the 42 618. Plus horsehide that is reasonably trim will still shape up.

I'm sure the stars wouldn't be hard to find. I think if you get it to fit right, there's minimal gain from picking up another jacket from the same family.

you a 42 in 613 S/SH at 6'1 up to 200. But it might feel a tad short. No way you comfortably fit into a 40 unless all your weight is in your legs.

Other option I'd recommend is the 118 (assuming you don't need for riding) and get a 40. I have the 40 and it was a half size too big. It'll fit you perfect and has the longer length.

Yeah that’s what the Schott size calculator says too, until I select slim. I think the main hitch for me with the 40 isn’t body size so much as my shoulders being broad. (Not so much an issue with nylon and wool flight jackets!)

Ha, funny to see this thread crop back up. Your 'testimony' for lack of a better word was what cinched me getting the jacket a few months later.

On that note, re: the above I need to email Schott. The size calculator is broken; it displays different results for the 613S and 613SH, which are exactly the same pattern. One might assume this accounts for the "extra stiff" (Schott's own description) leather of the SH, but it's actually backwards; if I select 'slim' as the chosen fit and enter my measurements for the 613S, it tells me 42; if I do the same for the SH, it tells me 40. Regardless of one's preferences, the SH at any given size will wear slightly smaller than the S due to the thick leather.

That looks amazing!
Thanks. Originally, I tried on the Brown version of this jacket, which was equally amazing. I didn't pull the trigger cause of the price point. Now, I'm glad I waited... good things come to those who wait! I'm wearing the snot out of this one ;-)
