A couple of years ago I picked up a vintage Resistol Pacesetter, a near-stingy, on eBay. The seller had it at a low price and posted as wool felt, but I couldn't believe that Resistol would have sold a wool felt hat as part of its dress range in the Sixties. The hat arrived, was clearly fur felt, and has been excellent.
Understand fully, but my advice was to someone completely new to hats.

Hey new member here
I like long walks on noisy city streets and booze in my morning coffee
Gigs pay the bills ... and by bills I mean buying hats
I hate the Violent Femmes and can't really get the hang of not peeing on the seat.
I have a ride cymbal addiction and might kick a puppy to own one that sounds like the cymbal that Roy Haynes played on Now He Sings Now He Sobs.
Cupcakes are overrated and so are Akubra hats.
I'm working on a car that runs on air ... I'll keep you posted

There's a local bakery that makes a copy of the Hostess cupcake... holy Toledo, smokin' hot cupcakes! Fresh, full of flavor... beats the Hostess with a club!

Thought I'd introduce myself with an oddity.

Picture poor Steve...his LIFELONG dream is to make hats. Just one tiny problem...

It's not the quality of his hats...

In fact? They're bloody lovely in every way...except...

As you can see? Poor Stephen made the unfortunate choice to be born with the last name "Stetson"...thus requiring him to festoon his otherwise lovely logo with the words
"NEVER CONNECTED IN ANY WAY" with the John B. Stetson Company, or predecessors, Hat Makers in Philadelphia Since 1865

So, whilst my lovely gray Homburg is, indeed, a Stetson?

It's not THAT Stetson.

(I like it more due to this...)

Stephen Stetson was older than John B, and they were related, if my memory serves.
I've read somewhere that Stephen taught John all he knew. If that's true or not is beyond me.
