Hi,

New member needs to glean some knowledge. Is there a way to tell the type leather (horse, steer, goat) used on an A2 based on Drawing and/or AC order "'s?

What's in question is:

Drawing #30Hi415
AC Order #42-11018P

THANKS in advance, Adam

I think this was a replica made in India by Aero Leather, but others will know for sure. It's not an original WWII A2.

Foster is spot on. This is a fictitious contract number. The drawing number is also wrong for an original WW2 A2, which was W535 and W33-038 for two late war contracts.

If it is the same as mine it has a tan brown lining with red knits and is made of seal coloured goatskin, with an art deco brass type zip.

Edit: Label will also say AEROFLIGHTMANF inc, zip is a conmar

Conmar is on the zip puller and the bottom stopper. New, iirc these jackets were about the £200 mark, they cleared the last ones at £125 which was the bargain of the century. That was over six years ago.
They were the bargain side of Aero, boy all the materials bar the goatskin was UK spec and sent out to India to be cut and stitched. Usually Aeros run one size small, these run just about true to size. I have owned one from new and is my go to summer jacket. Just don't let someone charge you £400 for it.

TKS to those that gave me a crash coarse on these jackets.

You saved me a considerable amount of brain damage.

Sincerely, Adam
