I picked up this jacket today. Once again, Perry Ellis comes through with another vintage style piece. What do you guys think of this? Is it based on an actual vintage style? I think it has a certain rogue-ish quality about it.
Perry Ellis calls this a "Poacher Jacket".

Very interesting closure... what's the inside like? Are the curved seams around the buttons purely ornamental, or do they provide an additional function? Nice color.

The button stance looks a bit odd (maybe too high?) but I like everything else about it.
Nice jacket.
I think I see what you guys are saying, but the jacket is actually shorter than it appears in the picture. It only goes just below the waist. Would that affect the button stance, or where you'd think they should be?

The curved seams are slits with material inside...not functional as far as I can tell---but could be pockets? I doubt I could/ would ever use them if they were. The inside is lined like a suit jacket, with two sideways slit pockets in the leather right inside the the flaps.

I wonder about the leather...

I wonder about the leather...

Not what kind of leather, but where it was on the cow or goat.

Back leather is the best, side leather is OK, but belly leather tends to stretch when wet and shrink more than the other two.

No way to say for sure without a close up inspection, but it looks like a good deal.

When I first looked at your jacket (first impressions) I really liked it. It reminded me of 30s design that many of us go for. Looking more closely, I still like it! It's different and with the right shirt, shoes, and swagger...you are on your way.

I think it looks 30's too. I was wearing a newsboy cap when I tried it on and it all just fell into place.

Pic?

I've looked at this a few times and I am sorry to say I do not dig it. :)

Feels very 1975 to me.

I don't have a pic, but I'll see what I can do.
I think what you can't tell from the pic is that the jacket is actually short, which to me makes it look old style. If it were 3/4 I could totally see the funky 70's thing.
