Really nice jacket and congrats! Fit looks good. I've been often tempted to buy my first Langlitz but could always resist as I'm not a motorcycle rider....

UPDATE:

I sent my columbia in to get the sleeves tapered a bit. That was on its way as my Cascade was inbound. After getting the cascade and being very happy with the fit (revised some compared to columbia) I asked about possibly doing a remake of the columbia to match the specs of my cascade. I was prepared to maybe take a hit on trading it in to them and ordering new again. I have had the Columbia since December.

I heard back from scott just now. They are making me a brand new columbia to match the fit specs of my cascade (no charge). What a great company!

After having met them in the shop, for sure they are one of the best to talk to! Hey, they have a pre-owned, low mileage, full blown contrast stitching, mouton collar, arm pockets, padded columbia, almost my size except sleeve girth. Someone should grab it!

Here is the remake. I really like the updated fit AND im glad I asked for this. Still some room as I like. Out the box feels much better than the original columbia. Should work well once broken in off or on the new bike (19 harley fat bob 114)

I really like the length of the Columbia you have. That is exactly were I would like my jacket length to be at. How is it ON the bike? Does it bunch up or jab into your throat when you ride with it zipped up?

Hello, it does a little, but i ride with it open at the top. I have more of an issue the collar rubbing the back of my helmet and sticking way up. Second guessed getting the cossack collar. Less of an issue since cutting the back lower panel straight. That low dipped back panel would catch the corner of where the passenger seat starts and push the collar way up. My vansons when new used to choke me out a little. I think it will be fine when it is fully broken in. Still glad I went with medium cow.

I should mention that I did a remake for this one (pic above is the remake and current jacket I have) and added more front length. I think going off their measurements for front i got like 21. And I wanna say first jacket I submitted was 22 And this was 23 i guess. It does not measure that long for sure from collar seam straight down. For riding only they were prlly right going an inch shorter.

For back I submitted 26 and came out right on from collar seam down. Then I had them cut it straight

Also, I had shoulders narrowed and sleeves shortened. If I did again I would ask them how the actual jacket would measure. Dont know if it would matter. I think they would make it how they wanted and then you would have option for alter or remake.

I usually have to ride with the jacket all the way zipped up from mid September till about mid May in my neck of the woods. I love the way your jacket sits, but my understanding is that it is a little long in the front for riding a motorcycle. I had a Langlitz made many years ago and they INSISTED on a shorter front for riding. Back then I hated the front length. I always thought it was way too short. Looking back, I think they were probably right.

I have a Vanson model "E" that might be a tad long in the front. When I totally zip it up, It has a "bulge" in the front. It might be a tad large on me also. adding to the excess leather in the front.

I kinda know what you mean about the back length. My model "E" fits strange in the back also. It seems like its not quite long enough in the back. I am always pulling it down and adjusting to keep everything covered. But on the top, the collar comes to mid skull.

I am gonna submit my measurements to Langlitz and let them build it for me. I am not going to "tweek" any fit measurements. I am also thinking their shoulder slope question will play a part in the collar riding up.

I am tired of getting riding jackets that don't fit right ON the bike. I hate going down the road and always fiddling with a collar, sleeve length, drafts and such. I am going to leave it to the experts and see what happens this time.

I am also going with the medium cow. I hope it is substantial.

The medium cowhide, I believe, will be a win for you. The leather is very tough but nice to look at.
Break-in and patina will take a lot of time and effort. It is the sort of leather you do not ever have to "baby".
It will take anything you throw at it.

I think this is wise for two reasons. The first being that they have been building jackets for a little over 70 years and probably don’t take kindly to others instructing them as to how that should be done The second reason is that Langlitz guarantees you will be satisfied with the fit of the jacket that they make you. That may not be the case though if they built a jacket based on measurements and other criteria dictated by you.
I think the medium weight cow hide is a great choice as well, plenty heavy and tough but not so much so that it is a chore to wear.

I am getting stoked about my new Langlitz. The waiting period is just about over. I am going to send in my measurements and details next week. I am feeling a little better about the medium cow. All your guys' jackets look awesome. Can't wait.

Here's my Langlitz Cascade in the medium weight brown cowhide. It's about five years old, got a fair amount of wear time on it. Has really softened up. I remember being a little underwhelmed by the leather when it was brand new, was kind of flat and featureless, but it keeps getting better every year. This medium weight cowhide is thick, tough stuff, seems pretty indestructible to me. Love this jacket. And can confirm Langlitz is a pleasure to deal with, those guys will bend over backwards to get it right.
