So I noticed that everyone has said a little about themselves and I thought I should also describe myself a bit to all you here at the lounge...
My name is Lili and I live in Los angeles, California in a historic little place called Echo Park...fairly ok place, considering that Los Angeles can be one hectic area to live in, Im 25 yrs. old, work in a library and go to school fulltime in hopes to pursue my AA with a transfer in liberal arts and find a good job as an transalator/interpreter, to help those who are limited with the english language... I have love and passion for anything vintage, art deco, music, art, writing and reading, amongst my favorite is anything from Cine Mexicano de la epoca de oro. Pedro Infante, Lilia Prado, Jorge Negrete, Maria Felix... and have currently developed a big passion for anything with James Cagney.....I came to know of this forum by a wonderful man named Adrian, who is also a member of the lounge...Its great to know that there are so many people out there with this same particular interest that is not part of high-media society nowadays....Im looking foward to learn a little from all of you here at the lounge...Ive been trying to start my own collection of vintage threads from suits, coats, shoes to dresses....I know I will find the necessary help here at the lounge....:)

Hello, everyone. I've been lurking off and on for awhile, and It finally occurred to me to sign up. I'm not sure how I originally stumbled into the Lounge, but I think it was a Web search for "fedora."

When I was in college I wore some 1940s dresses that my great-aunts gave me and old-fashioned stockings from a shop patronized almost exclusively by elderly ladies of my great-aunts' vintage. I'm actually more attracted to the '30s styles, though, especially the early '30s. I don't dress like that, but you're all inspiring me to start.

Hello my name is Kathleen. I live in Hillsboro Oregon. I am currently going to beauty school for a full cosmetology course (hair, nails, and esthetics). I'm 27 years old, but on the 25 of this month I will be turning 28.

I love anything that came out of the 20's to the 40's!! The clothing, art, and especially the music!! I have a assortment of authentic vintage clothes, and hats, and a few gloves, and only one pair of shoes.

I love all the old black and white movies. I have seen probably all of the Ginger Rogers Fred Astaire movies, Jean Harlow movies, Rita Haworth movies, a few film noir movies, and modern movies with a vintage twist to them.

Thank you so much for the welcome! It´s very nice to be able to share ones interests with likeminded (is that a proper word?:) ) I like my little town but It can get a bit lonely sometimes, stylewise at least. So this is great!!
See you

Hello all!!
I'm a longtime lurker and first time poster so I should probably introduce myself. I'm 28yrs old and currently live in Lexington, KY although I'm originally from Chicago. My personal tastes run from the 1940s to the very early 1960s with the occasional rockabilly thrown in for fun. This forum has been a great place for me to keep touch with others who are like-minded about classic lifestyles and fashion since I have left the big city and now live in the "smallest big town in Kentucky".

New Guy...for the moment

I guess it's my turn to be the New Guy...if only for a few moments.

My name is Dean and I've recently discovered my deep appreciations of all things retro. I've been hanging out at Club Obi Wan and was sent over here by Indy Magnoli, actually in search of a Lounge member named "Jay". Seems Magnoli made Jay a jacket that I'm interested in and suggested I contact Jay for some pics. Anyway, that's only a side interest. I'm really interested in the 30's and 40's...the look, the feel.

Strangely enough, at my day job I'm a technology specialist, trying to become more proficient in networking. At night, I'm reading Hunter S. Thompson and Dashiell Hammett and trying to be a writer.

Cheers!
Dean

Also, I'm pretty sure I was in SLIS701 with you back in 2003.

You may be right Nathan, I was there then. Actually, I'm still at USC, finishing up the last two classes I need for my SLIS. I'm sorry, though, I don't recognize your name. Have you found gainful employment in our field? I work in a public school system, just what I intended. I guess I'm lucky...many people end up out-of-field.

I'm in an academic library now. Wound up exactly where I wanted to be when I entered the program. I got the library I wanted, the position I wanted, and even the office I wanted. Turned out pretty well.

Good luck in the program, and once again, welcome to the Lounge. You'll have PM privileges once you hit 15 posts, so I'll shoot you a message that way soon.

Gosh, I am so excited to find this site! I am now inspired to pluck my eyebrows in a classic 40's arch AND make another futile attempt at rolling my hair :D

I have so much to add to so many threads but I will bite my tongue and try really hard not to be the annoying newbie. You all seem so fabulous that I could gush all evening, but instead I'll try and sort out an avatar.

Well, Hiya

This is my first official post at the Fedora Lounge. I just wanted to say I've enjoyed reading content here for quite some time and excited to jump in and contribute to the discussions when I can.

Great to see so many gals and fellas around who share the same love for eras-gone-by that I do!

Cheers to the FD!

Hello Ladies and Gentleman, I have lurked on and off for at least 2 years now and finally decided to add to the conversation. I live in the Tampa Bay area and am looking forward to becoming a part of this very interesting online community. I'm a 47 year old divorced gentleman who is currrently employed as a "managing partner" of a restaurant franchise. I am also a licensed Auctioneer and Antiques Dealer/Appraiser which lends itself well to my love for "old things." Looking forward to contributing here to some interesting conversations. I have an affection toward all things British and am constantly trying to learn about living a full life as a single middle aged guy.:)

Good afternoon ladies & gentlemen.

I recently found the Fedora Lounge while researching this era as i have a huge personal interest in it.
Although i am only 19, the style, the class, the dress, the dance (I'll have to learn that bit:p) just appeal to me greatly.
I hope to make new friends who are also interested in the greatest era ever.

Squadron.

Whoops, missed this thread before!

Salutations, I just decided to take the plunge in here, like my fellow new members. Like the poster above me, I am 19, and I sure do hope to have a good time here.

Taking the plunge

I wanted to come out of the woodwork and introduce myself. My name in Evelyn. I am 27 and I live in TX. Married, no kids and have always loved vintage fashion, beauty and home décor’. I came across the Fedora Lounge when I was looking for information on how to get the Rita Hayworth look. I have been doing the Bridgette Bardot hair for some time and was looking to change it up. Since I have been lurking, I have found a wealth of info and it is so wonderful to find ladies asking the same questions about beauty and fashion I have had for sometime!

I really enjoy all eras. It really depends on my mood that day. I guess I would say I love the 30s-60s, but I feel more comfy I guess when I wear clothing from the 50s-60s as they seems to flatter my figure better.

I currently have a sick obsession with EBaying vintage shoes and pollys, an obsession with vintage Hawaiian dresses and vintage bathing suits at the moment. Plus we just bought our first house so decorating has been another avenue of my life that has taken the way of the vintage lifestyle.

I check the forum mostly at work  so I haven’t remembered in the evenings to upload a photo, but I will soon!

So I look forward to joining more conversations now and sharing what I can!

Hi, I'm Jenna! I just joined and haven't jumped in yet. I am more into 1960s style and culture, especially 60s suburbia and the era's vision of outerspace, and optimism for space travel. (Shamelessly, a big original series Star Trek fan here!) I know the Fedora Lounge is focused on earlier decades, but after lurking for a couple days it looks to me like there are a few likeminded individuals hereabouts!

I'm majoring in women's studies and I like theme parties, Tom Jones, and Jurassic Park, among the other more typical vintage interests. I looked up the Fedora Lounge when an acquaintance asked if I posted here - and I can see why she did!
