D pocket and loops both need to shrink. Building on extremes of the size chart is a challenge I’m sure and standard sized “bits” won’t do any better on a 52” or a 34”.
It’s the very first thing I noticed. Not trying to be a **** but that’s just plain f’d up.
It’s part of what you learn when building a brand. Leilah need to try to inspect every jacket before it goes out. I can’t be sure how many just drop ship directly from Sailkot but nothing beats the keen eye of a business owner who must maintain their reputation.

I think the belt loop on the D pocket is a detail on some vintage Bucos as well as some repros like Real Mccoys. (I borrowed this pic from @jeo instagram)

IMG_8001.png I don’t know anything about Rugged West or their jackets but I don’t think the belt loop on the D pocket makes them bad or lazy.

As far as proportions, to me a lot of the repro brands’ D pocket layout just looks off. I think I prefer the perfecto style pocket configuration for this reason on cross zips.

Interesting observations!
I saw that belt loop through d-pocket thing but I don't mind it as I've seen examples of it in the past from other makers in small sizes or short jackets. Not ideal I guess but not something that bugs me.
Leilah is speccing these VERY long as stock jackets in my opinion, something like 25" even in the smallest sizes. I ordered a ~23" length back, that's why the belt loop issue arose I suppose.
And she did meticulously inspect the jacket and sent me a lot of pictures of it, not like she just forwarded it to me without looking at it. I guess she didn't find that aspect problematic enough either. Don't forget that we on TFL are the pickiest of them all haha.
Regarding the d-pocket size / layout - my eye can't see anything specifically wrong about it. I'm not a big far of the chest pocket size/location though, but you can't have everything I suppose.
Anyway - I'm hoping to get the jacket next week, do a initial impressions / review about it at some point as well.

Wow guys...one little buckle strap and everyone begins with ******* murder* only for grandpa Buco to show up... Pretty funny to watch!

Funny thing about yearning for the days of old, when your local leather shops produced a lot in house, is that there was a ton of variability and few "rules" about where exactly every single zip or buckle must 100% be located.

It does appear that punching the belt loop through the d pocket is not without historical precedent. A quick search showed this across the size range of Buco, not just the smaller sizes. Some have it, some don’t. I would not accept that on a vintage or a repro jacket. It just looks like a mistake to me.

Either way we haven’t heard about the rest of the jacket.

And you won't hear about it for quote a while longer, unfortunately.
The jacket will arrive the day after my 2 week family trip starts.
Or around a month later than promised.
Not too annoyed about it as I can't wear it in this heat anyway, but a bit of a bummer nevertheless.

I also feel the hand warmer pocket positioning relative to the belt loops is…….. less desirable than the stock picture. It would seem that each size would need unique measurements for the various zippers and pockets loops etc. one thought for the historical variation might be the belts might all have been cut to the same width requiring standardized loops?

Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a leather similar to Aero Chromexel.
I think the oiled bison seems pretty close.
What do you think?
I have two types of leather from RW (one of which is oiled). But they are not similar to CXL. I think the new leathers are more an option. Leilah is most likely to be able to help.

Finally got my hands on the j-24 style model. I'll do a proper first impression review during the weekend, but here's a small teaser - for those of you that got worked up about the belt snap going through the d-pocket - how do you like the collar snap going through the zipper tape?

PS: @Peacoat maybe could rename this thread to simply "Rugged West" for clarity / simplicity.

IMO that’s poorly executed. Both half ends of the stitching from either side of the snap would unravel at some point.

I don't like neither the snap nor the placement either. Honestly I would prefer not having the snap at all, just the stud on the lapel purely for looks as I never do those.

@TartuWolf the fit, to my untrained eye, seems perfect. Pretty nice! I’m waiting your “review” :)

For shure there are some strange things/details in that jacket, but in the end what matters is the fit (and that is pretty awesome)…am i wrong?
