New Aero Leather Windward - what do you guys think about the fit?

Hello out there,

again I ordered from Aero leather after being blown away from my first jacket - a LHB.

This time i thought I might go with something for the warmer days of the year, and I thought that the Windward does look pretty sharp.

Well - it does (at least I still do believe this) but I´am curious, what you guys think about the fit.

I mean sure - the Windward is one short fitting jacket, but maybe this is too short? I´am wondering if an additional inch would have served a better overall look ?

Besides that.
The jacket is in size 42, cordovan FQHH. I´am 188cm and 90kg.

Thank you guys very much.

Best regards,
SimonQ.

When it comes to leather jackets, I prefer a loose fit over a snug fit; some might say a bit too loose, but I go for comfort and function first and looks second. This is merely my opinion based on personal preferences, so take it for what it's worth.

The sleeve length looks about right, but if it were my jacket I'd prefer another inch (especially if I were using it as a motorcycle jacket). The shoulders look like you could use a little more room, and the body length is short by (I'd guess) two to three inches. Based strictly on the photos you posted, if it was my jacket I'd either go one size up or contact Aero Leather to see if they can make the jacket in a 42 long/tall. But if you prefer a snug fit and like the way it looks, stick with it.

Hi Simon,

I agree that the Windward is fantastic jacket, but yours is a little bit to short in the body, from my point of view.

It is a pitty, because everything else seem to be right.

Are those modern, low-waisted jeans? I like the shorter, vintage cut myself, but it is a fact that it comes from an age when trouserwaists were typically higher. If a more vintage trouser cut isn't your thing, this could be why the jacket looks 'too short' to you. [huh]

If I suspect that a garment doesn't fit me, it's a cue to find one that does.

Edward has a point about the low-rise jeans. If this is what you wear most of the time, the jacket will not keep the cold and wind out as it sits higher than the waistband.

Bit longer. . .

Hi QTime - welcome to the lounge!
I agree with Zombie 61 and Gancho - two to three inches - means 5 - 7,5 cm longer in body lenght. I am into short jackets but I feel / look better if the jackets cover the belt complete. - But I didnt have such a great belt like yours...
I am 175 cm wearing 46" Windwards with front lenght 21" back lenght 23,5"
you can see how it works on my avator . . .bist halt ein langer Bursche ;)

I also agree that the body is too short. For me, I like the jacket to cover the belt.

You've hit the nail right on the head Edward. Simon is wearing what looks to me like an Atelier LaDurance blue jean. The rise is very low and I believe that if he opted for a more classic denim cut (1947 or 1955) then his jacket would no longer look to be slightly too short.

Otherwise the jacket's fit looks good to me.

It looks too short to me too. By about 2 to 3 inches. You need it to cover the kidneys. A short jacket is frustrating in the cold. At your height (which is mine too) you probably always need to add a couple of inches to length.

They are all, of course, correct Simon. The jacket is slightly too short. I was hoping to encourage you that the situation is not unredeemable.

It may well be that you like that "toreador" look?
