For me, this is why WWII, the era, society, and people are so attractive to me; I honestly believe that it was literally a battle between genuine good and evil.
I was just thinking about that the other day. Was going through random Wikipedia articles on the Nazi high command until suddenly, this pure, clear realization hit me like a ton of bricks about how those people were crazy. Crazy as in genuinely crazy. Clinically mental. Ill. And that's why they lost the war. War they would, without a shred of a doubt win if they weren't complete, demented psychopathic lunatics. Like, kind of people that'd spend their entire lives in a mental facilities in this day and age. But back then, somehow they got together and ran a country. One that can do so, so much. . .
It was a battle between good and evil. But maybe even more between sanity and madness. Madness in its purest form.
