Need suggestions, leather flight jacket

Found my perfect jacket. It’s by California Arts, Hyperion Leather Flight jacket in chocolate brown. Everything about it is what I want in a flight jacket, problem is the brand has a lot of negative reviews and I don’t trust a company that doesn’t specify what and where their leather is from. Can anyone help me and find a jacket that looks just like this but from a better brand. Thank you.

Those are the main contenders. I'd say. The Schott is very much in a similar style, but with wool knits. If you want to stick with the all-leather outer, the Aero is your birdy. I don't expect you'll find a high end, vintage repro / style jacket n]maker of the sort we prize round here that does the 'elastic under leather' look of the one in the OP. It's a construction technique that had been around for some time (the earliest jackets I've personally seen it on were all 50s, though in those it was mainly limited to a bit at the sides), though less popular a look. The trade off against wool knits is it loses the latter's susceptibility to moths, of course.

Are you set on leather elastics at the waist or are you open for a flight jacket style with wool knits at the waist? If wool knits are fine, a G1 style jacket such as the one made by Schott posted above would be a good choice.

If you insist on leather elastics at the waist, it is going to be a hard search unless you go a custom made route. This style you shown is not a classic flight jacket look and nothing that is produced by the established flight jacket makers. You could go to Johnson Leathers San Francisco, show them a picture and they can make it for you, full custom. Will set you back ~1200 USD though.

Thank you all for your suggestions, facts and images. Unfortunately I don’t care for wool knits at the waist or wrists which makes the search difficult. I’m not opposed to vintage but haven’t really found the answer there. I may just go the custom route as suggested. Thank you all again.

This was a popular style on mall type jackets in the early 90's so there will be used options.

It is unexpected to see it making a comeback.

if you will spend $1000 or more, I recommend you check rainbow country and Y2 leather as well. They are very well-made jackets. and you can find them in great prices for second hand

Which models are you suggesting are similar to the OP?

The jacket you are showing retails for $738. That is at least $400 more than it is worth. It is almost certainly made in China or Pakistan. Here is a similar used jacket for $23 and a new one for $493

Concur with above. Jacket from relatively unknown Mfr, and equally unknown Vendor, with equally unspecified materials seems highly suspect. You can do much better for considerably less.
