Need ribbon color suggestions

Found a nice wool felt fedora in a dark greenish-brownish color...more greenish than anything, at least in the sunlight...almost a tweedy looking hat but isn't. (confused yet?) Anyway, it has a dark copper/dirty penny colored ribbon that works ok colorwise but, due to the sheen, seems a bit too bright for the hat. Any suggestions on color for a new ribbon? Will post a pic if it helps but my photography ain't the best - color may not/probably won't look exactly right. Thanks in advance

Since the Lounge encourages us to update old threads instead of willy-nilly creating new ones . . .

I have a '60s-era Borsalino "Savoy", here:

It is a dark gray; indoors, almost black, like the carbon grey Federation IV. I plan to have it resized up from 6 7/8 to 7 to fit my head better, and while the hatter is doing the work, I thought a new ribbon would lighten up the entire aspect of the hat. I'd like to go a bit thinner, too, but that'll depend on whether the felt under the ribbon matches the exposed area of the crown.

What would make a good replacement color? Dark brown, copper? What say you all?

For charcoal felts, my suggestion for a first alternative to the black band would be a silvergray ribbon that is noticably lighter than the felt, but not too light either. The second alternative would be to vary the undertones of this silvergray ribbon. Aside from plain silver, you might try a very subtle rose undertone, or a lavender undertone, or a greenish hue. The fine details of the color shades will make or break the look of the hat.

Plain silvergray:

Silver with different undertones (the second pic doesn't really look like silver, it appears to have a pronounced shift towards the warm side):

As for dark brown and copper - both have been done, but it's difficult to get it right.

Below are two examples (two pics of the same hat, respectively):

Rabbit, I like the second pic of the dark gray with the brown/copper -- that white stripe on the bow is sharp -- and the third one.

I dunno -- maybe a dark blue ribbon with a thin white horizontal stripe through it?
