My ticket to the Open Road Guild

Hello everybody,

I finally found a MINT condition Open Road in my size:

Granted, it's "only" a "Royal" but it's such a nice unworn condition as you can see on the pictures, that I just couldn't let it go. Especially for a price that is way below what a decent rawbody costs these days.

I received it this monday as it's indeed as advertised. Even the stickers under the sweatband look brand new!

Congrats, Marc -- it's a beauty! I almost bid on that one myself, in light of the measurements that the seller gave. But I decided that, despite those measurements, the hat was 7 1/8, so too small for me...

Happily, I acquired my first Open Road a couple of weeks ago -- a Royal Stetson in MINT condition, as well! Guild application to follow...!

Further evidence that bargains are still to be had. Congratulations on that one, Marc.
Those NOS hats can present a dilemma, though. I'm guessing that hat is a good half century old, if not older, and it remains in "new" condition, which means that it would be quite difficult (if not quite impossible) to replace. My lovely wife bought me an apparently NOS Stratoliner (open crown, absolutely no signs of wear, etc.) a little more than a year ago and I was initially reluctant to put a bash in it. Now I do indeed wear it, but only rarely, and only when the skies don't threaten precipitation. That old lid will remain like new for as long as I have any say in the matter.
