My Three Sons (tv show fiction i'm writing)

Remember the 1960s American sitcom My Three Sons? I was thinking of a
gender swap version. In the spirit of the old "exposure to radiation
and experiments give you superpowers", i was thinking of this: Their
father is an engineer and the sons get exposed to experimental fuel or
other magical liquid material and get transformed into girls. A gender
swap of teenagers (and at least one of the sons is almost an adult at
this point) is not inherently perverted as they are all legally able
to work and one could even drive legally if i recall correctly.

I plan to explore the clash between wholesome sixties sitcom and the
toxic for girls 1960s California beach culture.

I'm thinking of pitching it for publication.

Even if i have to use names like "Doug Steveless" and "Uncle Chuckie".

Here's my planned dialogue for one brief scene after the
transformation. Tell me what you think:


Steve Douglas directed his frown at Uncle Charley, before looking at
no on in particular, just the calculations he was making. "Now, I have
an opportunity for a promotion. That will mean a substantial raise. It
means a move. To our California plant.

"California," Robbie said.

"Beach girls! Bikinis! Chip echoed.

"I'm not wearing a bikini!" Ernie screamed.

"Oh, that's right," Robbie said, hitting a mental brick wall.

I'm still writing it but my health means i can't be at the computer as much as i'd like.
I figure that whether through "an experimental liquid"/radiation or an encounter with a Jerkass Genie/Wizard or The Little Shop That Wasn't There Yesterday, it will be more interesting if the newly created Douglas girls look physically stereo typically girly. It provides for more drama that if they have short hair and a flat chest. Of course long hair - tangles and larger breasts - back pain (i am aware that there is a spectrum between "A-cup" and back pain).

I vaguely remember that show but, as I recall, it went on into the early 70s. I never liked it as a kid in the early 70s as I never identified myself with any of the characters. At the time, aged about seven, I thought that the show Julia was much funnier.

I think that your characters Robbie, Chip and Ernie sound rather calm in your scene, after their dramatic change from being males to becoming females. I was an RN for over twenty five years and know that these transgender changes are always physically and psychologically traumatic.

But the Sitcom universe is different to real life; but the best Sitcoms always reflect real life.

It's magic/supernatural transformation, not surgical. It would be interesting if any of them played a sport like football.. there'd be a lot of pressure to just transfer them to the cheerleading team, given the time period.

It's not a put-on. Just an idea i have for a short story.

In the original series, Steve Douglas was an aeronautical engineer. As one who did some time as an aeronautical engineer myself, the idea that he or I would be able to change anyone in any significant way (including gender) is comical.

I suspect old Steve had trouble enough just to get the boys to change their socks.

I know that, but the story is in the tradition of the old "radiation/other liquids transform someone" ala Spider-Man.
