Wow. Just Wow. all I can say is that this hat send shivers down my spine. I've never handled a Stetson 100 and this thing is a beaut. In perfect shape too.

Unfortunately, I wear a size 7 and this is a 7-3/8.

It's my size, and I would absolutely LOVE to own this hat. If I was confident that I could avoid soiling the pristine condition of that beauty, I would definitely go for it. Too bad it's not in your size, but at least you got the experience :).

It was a thrill just to handle it, for sure. If I had the room I'd have kept it even though it doesn't fit. But I'd be afraid of jamming it in a corner and eventually damaging it or something. Plus, I'd hope that whomever buys it will wear it. This fine hat deserves to be seen in public!

It is a great hat. Someday I hope to find one in my size to keep.

I felt it my duty to throw down a one hundred dollar bid. I'll never win it for that amount, but it had to be done!

Best of luck with the auction. It's a beauty.

Boy, I hope it goes for more than $100! I'd like to at least get my money back out of it!! LOL

Thanks for the bid. I'll be on pins and needles all the way 'til next Friday waiting to see where this one gets to.

Wouldn't worry too much (but I didn't see what you paid). It's already beyond the $100 mark at $109.16. What is your reserve (if you don't mind me asking?). It's gorgeous, I'm sure it will bring a high dollar. Not my size either unfortunately.

I was afraid to put the reserve too high. So I put it at $200. I've never sold a hat that could command higher than $80 so I am not experienced at it at all! I would think this thing will get to at least $400, but I guess we'll see.

I've got to say, though the finish is tremendous, giving the felt an amazing hand that I've only felt on a 7xCB, I'm happy to be rid of mine. If it hadn't fit, it would have been hard to sell it, just because of the great deal I got on it. The stiffness, though, was a real turn off for me. Now that I've owned both, I'll join in the others who have written that, despite being half the price, I'd rather own a 7xCB than a 100. Of course, that's with the caveat that, according to others who have owned them, some 7xCBs are very stiff, while others, like mine, are like clay.

Hmmmm. Interesting. This 100 I have for sale is very soft. Not stiff at all. The felt is not very thick, either. In fact, it is comparable to my 1950s vintage Stetson 25, but the finish is nicer on the 100. Holding them together it's had to tell them apart for me, anyway.

I think you'll do well with your auction. I just sold a high-end hat right before the holidays, and was very happy with the results.

I see the reserve is already met. I'd be going a lot higher if this were one size larger.

Best,

I think you'll be fine too. Plenty of folks who are done with the Holiday who will now decide to buy that "something special" for themselves to ring in the new year. I'm about to list a guitar I hope will bring in the $1300 range (identical examples have sold for $1150, $1349 and $1375, all two days ago).
