Thanks guys, i will give it a bit of time to break in and then i'll get pictures of both of them side by side for comparison.
Really liking the black CXL, it doesn't have the depth of the brown one, but it feels great.

I still understand why everyone on here always says you should go for brown CXL for your first Aero, as much as i love the black CXL, the brown one is really amazing.

Why didn't you like the tumbled hide?

I don't think there was anything wrong with it, it was nice leather, it just didn't have the qualities i like in leather.
It might just be batch dependent, but i found it very dry feeling, with an almost suede like finish.
Also it felt very soft and floppy, it didn't really mold to me like a second skin, but flopped around shapelessly (the fact it was too big and had a super heavy lining didn't help).

Saying that, had it fit better i would have kept it, the leather was really not the main reason i got rid of it.
It just didn't fit right...

The sun is out, and i have finally managed to get decent pics of the matching set!
I have worn the brown one a lot, and lived in the black one this past month, but it is already warming up and i am switching back to the brown one more often.
Warmth wise, the strome tartan will definitely make you gain a few degrees compared to cotton. I would say it is most comfortable with a jumper between 10c and 0c (50f to 32f).
Above that i get hot and would rather wear a cotton lined jacket, and below that i start to prefer a wool coat.

Leather wise, although i love the black one because it is black (black is my colour), i prefer the brown CXL for its character.
The brown CXL is so waxy and its colour changes so much in the light, it even scratches nicely! I just love it.
The black one feels more rigid, and dry, but i can see it will also age much better than other black leathers i own, probably not with as much character as the brown one.
Still, they both show great grain after only a few weeks/months wear, and i can't wait to see how they will evolve.
Pretty sure Horween CXL has become my favourite leather.

In use they are great, love the fit, love the pocket configuration, i actually use the D pocket all the time and find it a lot more convenient than other pocket layouts.
Open pocket for temporary things, gloves, hat, girlfriend's phone, etc. Large zipped pocket for important things, it even fits a large wallet. Ticket pocket for tickets and small things.
I don't use handwarmers and chest pockets, and am not a fan of inside pockets, this for me is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing.

Lastly, just FYI the brown CXL is pretty much and exact mach for the Redwing " Briar Oil Slick" leather. Although the oil slick has more grain, they both have that same reddish brown tone and look great together.

Man I so want one like that but I told myself I'm going to save up and get a Sunburst first. I'm going to stop looking at the photos now . . . Oh maybe just one more look . . .

@Carlos840

You got a super nice pair of vintage inspired Jackets, congrats! Only thing I would change is: An upside down D-Pocket zipper ;)

Here is a picture of an original One (source Instagram, but I belive it's also pictured in one of Rin Tanaka's Books):

Thank you for the picture, that jacket looks amazing!
I actually asked them to flip the zipper around! For some reason i think things are visually more balanced with the zipper in the up position...
Almost like the zipper ends up being where a chest pocket zipper should be.
Probably over analyzing this, but it made sens to my eyes/mind.
