My new Adam!

THIS beauty popped up a few weeks back, with a buy-it-now option. I thought the price was a little steep, but it's hard to find hat like this in that size. Plus, you don't know where the reserve is, and if it's met, the buy-it-now goes away, and who knows what might happen. Plus, a new hat this nice (I hoped) could cost three times as much. Plus, I was in the middle of a horrible deadline crunch, and the only thing that brings joy to my life when I'm working that hard is spending a lot of money online!

So... I hit the button.

It arrived today, and I'm glad I pulled the trigger. My digital camera is dead (new one on the way... more online money spent... yahoo!!!), so I can't post pictures of it on my fat head, but it's really a stunning hat. To my surprise, I prefer the brim up all around. Gives it kind of a Western look. I tried a little re-bashing (without steam), but I didn't like anything better than the way it arrived. The felt is amazingly soft, and it was never been worn. The whole thing is pristine.

Size-wise, I guess it is a true 7 5/8... just slightly too large for my seemingly 7 9/16 head. For now, I put felt spacers in on the sides, and it feels good. I may see if it shrinks as I wear it, or I may try the wet and dry trick on the sweat a little later on. For now, I'm just gonna enjoy it.

Very nice! Definately a keeper. The price is equal or less than a new hat, and substantially less than a custom. You got a great vintage hat in a somewhat scarce size, and in mint condition. Worth every penny I'd say. Congratulations!

If I had seen that before you, I'd have bought it in a heartbeat.
Great hat, very fair price. Don't think twice about it.

I've been really remiss about posting pictures lately. Here's the Adam I bought way back when. It's probably my most treasured hat (aside from my grandpa's, of course). I'm really glad I pulled the trigger on it. The felt is amazing... very soft and smooth, and it's a lovely color.

At first I wore the brim up a lot, but these days I like it down.

You did great! But did you notice how it was out there as an "Indy Jones style"? How the devil is it anywhere close to being an Indy hat??

People are stupid.

That is funny, isn't it? I guess we're going to see a lot of hats called Indy hats over the next few years.

In their defense, I must say that it is very Indyesque. May not be screen accurate, but that would make a fine close enough hat, and would probably take just as much a beating. It does have that sense of adventure to it.
