Well the hat looks wonderful. I think the 1/8 of an inch would have throw the proportion off. A brim edging on that style of hat was not the fashion. An edging on 2 3/8 brim hats doesn't look that great. Edging was done on wider brim hats.

Yeah, but if that's what he ordered and paid for...

Methinks we're missing a couple of pieces to the puzzle here. It seems to be unlike Mr. Fawcett to mess something like this up.

Right.

But that lid is truly SO well-suited to your puss, Bigeasy, that you should keep it. Just plain perfectly classic. Art Fawcett is the Steve Jobs of hats; he actually knows what you need before you do.

After two tries it is still not what I ordered. Disappointed but not sending it back again. Quality and materials are excellent though.
Sir, while naturally you should have got what you ordered, may I say that it is a very fine looking hat, that particularly suits you. May it serve you well. Merry Christmas.

Tis true Gentlemen, I messed this one up. There were some issues with measurements and the hat was originally too small but in remaking it larger at my expense other than his shipping to me, I somehow lost 1/4" off the brim. In confederate I do not have "matching" ribbon but "complimentary" ribbon was turned down so here we are. I also offered to make an entirely new hat for the Gent at my expense but that was turned down. I believe I've done as much as I could to make this right and don't know where to go from here.

Good service as always, Art.

To be honest, the hat would look much better (for me, anyway) with the missing 1/4 restored - if I were Mr. BigEasy, I'd take you up on your remake offer.

Cheers!

IMO, it sounds like you've done all you can. Going back to my old business law classes, his decision to keep the hat signifies acceptance of what was offered to close the contract.

Gentlemen,
Thanks for your comments.
Let me first say, I agree, the hat is gorgeous and looks very nice. I don't deny that. I posted the pictures because it is a fine hat. After saving for years, and having to send the hat back and facing having to send it back yet again, I was disappointed. After sending pictures of the brim measurement, Art said he would build another and get it right. I said it was not necessary. I'd put up with the short brim. Of course I would like it to be to spec, but Art had put enough time into it already, and I was disappointed so I declined to make it easier on the both of us. Art has always been accommodating and the service impeccable. The hat is beautifully made. I just wanted a wider brim.

Problems are only opportunities for guys like you to shine, Art. Well done, Merry Christmas!!
The best company president I ever worked under used to say..."as long as we are in the business of making things we will make mistakes and sometimes they will make it out to the customer. Take care of the customer properly and that is what they will remember not the initial mistake."

BigEasy has accepted my offer to make another so I think this issue is "put to bed". I had actually put one on the block for him before he turned down the offer. It's still on the block so he will have a wider brim shortly. Thank you everyone for your confidence.
Very well handled,Art.First class.
