This 'Ole House

The door detail is great etc. The Americans seemed to be able to inject that essential homeliness (gemuetlichkeit the Germans call it) into their homes in the 1920s and 30s. Sometimes the Yanks go over board with fussy English country house look interpretations - you even see it in the fancy makeovers of NYC apartments in Architectural Digest. Simple is best with good construction qualities and classic mouldings etc IMHO.

Thanks Nikki! Actually there is newer siding on this house, but at least the color keeps it older looking. It has that beveled type stone on the foundation..in blocks. I will need to take pics of the upstairs bedrooms for you. They did no renovating up there so maybe I can get more clues.

Many old homes get sided because of the lead paint.. that's why ours was done. But our siding is ugly!

Your's looks great, nice and thin and they put the trim back around the windows and such.
Can't wait to see more pics!

Indy's '36 Ford

Sefton said:
Beautiful home! It just needs a vintage 1930's~40's automobile parked out front. Congratulations!:cheers1:
Indy Magnoli has a gorgeous '36 Ford for sale. It's a little bit on the wrong side of the planet (New Zealand) but what's a few thousand miles among friends? I'm sure he'd be glad to keep it in the "family".
