I've just discovered that the sunglasses I wear -- and bought new -- are now considered "vintage." Oy. They're the Rayban Innerview, from the eighties. A bit like the Wayfarer, but with pointier angles.
I just bought a pair of Persols on ebay; dying to see how they look when they arrive. After bidding, I did some research, and discovered that there is a modern vs. vintage controversy surrounding Persols: they used to be made by Ratti, but were bought out recently by Luxottica, a giant octopus of a firm. Some seem to think the Ratti glasses are better, although I haven't seen that demonstrated: I've also heard from opticians that the current Persols are the best lenses on the market.
