During the war my father was missing in the jungles of Papau New Guinea where he was a Seabee for 6 months. Come to find out he had Milaria and was incoherent. My mom was back home with 2 little boys. My father made this bracelet sometime in his time in New Guinea out of money.
The green "stone" is a part of a toothbrush. Even the latch is made out of money. Quite the ingenious man IMHO. It is one of my greatest vintage treasures. :)
He did come home and they were married 46 years when my mom passed. He passed 3 years later.

Amazing! Priceless. That looks like British coinage, both George VI and George V. Fascinating.
Aha! Upon closer examination, I see it's Australian. Makes sense.

Thank you. I like the little kangaroo. He was a Seabee for longer than 6 months but lost for 6 months and actually joined the Navy the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed.
My poor mom had a breakdown of sorts as she thought she was left with 2 little boys to raise by herself.
He came home and they had more children including me.

That is a great treasure. Thanks for sharing the picture and (most importantly) the story.

You are so lucky. That is priceless.
Your Father would have had to bump into some Aussies to get the coins. My Grand-father was in Papua New Guinea.
